Has anybody ever experienced extreme wheel hop before? My car is a stock '00 GTS 6Spd. And if my tires ever spin when launching, the whole car shakes violently. Just wondering if it was a normal occurance. I think it may be one of my motor mounts. What do you guys think?

what you might be experiencing is the tourque steering...when you take off from 1st the wheel kinda shifts around a bit and lets you feel the road better at the launch...could that be it?

Never experienced it that bad. My launches are usually very clean.

Get Limited Slip Differential and it will not have anymore torque steer, still can have wheel hop but its both wheel hopping and only if you want it to hop.

i know exactly what youre talking about. it happened to me a lot when i went to the track and drove thru the water. i never used the water to burn my tires so when i launched they were still wet and i "hopped" a lot. make sure youre launching with dry tires and arround 3500 rpms. hope that helps thumbsup

Thanks guys...no it's not torque steer (though that happens too), it's definetly wheel hop. I wish i could afford an LSD, that would be freaking awesome. I'm gonna check my motor mounts anyways cause i can't see how this could be normal. Thanks again for the help. grin

maybe ur car wasn't warmed up yet, and when you rev dat sucker up, car shakes like crazy. But then again, it mite be something else. For the celi being front wheel drive, ill say launch it at 2500 avoiding wheel hop. Not sure to others, but when I dragged one time with this civic hatchback, i wheel hopped and it slowed me down dramatically. I launced at 3500-4000 at that time by the way. I dont think rear wheel drive wheel hops, probably just fish tails. Front wheel drive is a bit different.

i have a suggestion on how you can prevent that, dont lauch at 6k rpms. simple as that. i have an 03 gts and i launch at 2500 everytime. i get a little chirp and im off very cleanly.

yea wheel hop happens all the time. usually when its wet. ive tried to launch at all rpm levels. i have proxes so i can launch that high . but with the yokos i launched like at 5500 drop the clutch i would have the sickest launches. chirp out ALL of first. without wheel hop
