i have done a search and theres really no direct answer that i found. recently i encountered a problem(u can read it hereweb page )
anyways i finally realize that my car is idling low(500or below) first time i start it, to the point that its seems like its gonna stall and die(i have an auto) and this only happens when iam on gear(R or D...etc)when on park(P) my idle is about 1000-1100.
this only started happening after i got my gauges installed(A/F, volt)
i dunno what else is wrong and i dunno how to fix it any suggestions ? dont wanna take it to the dealer i already know what theyll say thumbsdown
oh yeah forgot to mention this happens only the first couple of seconds of driving after its warmed up a little my car runs fine so i dunno confused confused its just annoys me and makes me worried idunno

All celi's idle a little low!! Mine is that way too! In fact it does it now its just been to cold to f*ck with it!! All ya gotta do is adjust the throttle cable. There is a "how to" in the installs section!! Its easy bro..the gauges have NOTHING to do with it. thumbsup

If the engine is cold than it has to have a higher idle RPM.

So it isn't normal.

Can I see a close up pic of your engine bay (large)?

My Miata used to do the exact same thing with idling low. It would actually start to shake if you had the A/C on and were stopped. I just messed with the throttle cable- only I went a little too far and had it idling at 2000 rpm for a whole day. I had to use both the foot and hand brakes to keep it stopped at lights rofl

About adjusting the throttle cable. I adjusted mine. My car idled at around 700 rpm's, normal for Celica's. After I tightened it it still idled around 700 rpm's. The only reason I tightened it was for a slightly better throttle response, just seems crisper. People here are saying if your car idles at low rpm's or your car is stalling tighten the throttle cable. I believe that is not the solution. There can be another underlining problem or problems that you are masking by adjusting the cable. I don't think it's good practice in those low idle situations just a quick fix for maybe some other problem.
