I was always under the impression that Carbon fiber would be lighter that Fiberglass. But now I'm double guessing myself. Which is lighter Carbon fiber? Or Fiberglass?

pound for pound it weighs the same rofl

Carbon Fiber would be lighter IMO because it is stronger and therefore you do not need as much of it to make things. You would have to lay fiberglass thicker for it to be as strong as Carbon Fiber and then it would weigh more.

You know what.. both are pretty light, and I doubt that it's going to make a noticeable difference in racing (I'm assuming that's why you want a lighter hood). Either one is going to be lighter than stock. But I believe (and I could be wrong) that carbon fiber is the lightest.

not only that but carbon fiber will most likely look better, even if you oaint it, because it's smoother, usual last longer and is more durable

All depends on the construction. I can make a carbon fiber hood for you that will be just as heavy as the oem (it will look wonderful too, yeah right) its all in how much they use. Shitty construction will have lots of excess resin and cloth. High quality production will only have enough carbon fiber and resin to get the needed strenght. The reason why carbon fiber is the lightest is because of weight per tensile strenght, and composites get their strength from the directional tensile strenght of each fiber. The reason carbon fiber int used everywhere on military jets and such is purely a money issue. If you. look in the civilian sector people use it exclusivly if they have enough money.
