I just got back from Toyota to see how much maintenance on my car would be this time. For a 75,000 mile service, engine flush, throttle body service, and fuel injection service will run $659.80 w/out tax. The service advisor said it would be lower because some of the services overlap in some ways and I don't need certain things done on the 75,000 mile like new wipers, replace air filter, and other small things. But still, it's going to hurt.

ALLOT of that stuff, they just go through while the car is on the lift and just check-mark their paper as they walk around...

now that you have the list and if you know where everything is and what each thing looks like when it's new - you too can inspect your own car.

on another note...

**if you have CAI - you don't need a new Air Filter Element
**if you have manual transmission - you don't need automatic trans fluid
**the coolant can be changed for $34.95 by Toyota or any other repair shop
**if you have a front wheel drive, then you don't need differential fluid
**oil change can be done in your driveway or for under $20 at dealership/repair shop
**oil filter is changed with the oil change
**spark plugs can be done in your garage with a 14mm deep-socket ($6.99each for the 2K Celica)
**a brand new ENTIRE fuel-filler cap can be purchased for $12 from service dept.
**if you have aftermarket tires, chances are that they are directional and only need to be swapped and not rotated (swap directions on FWD is putting the tires with most tread onto the front - respective of their direction)

save yourself $200+ and learn a bit about your car grin

but then again - for piece of mind - it might also just be good to treat your car like your life rides in it's hands and drop it with Toyota for the day... everyone deserves a full day at the spa at least once in their lifetime grin

Yeah, I know but I need a lot of things checked out. Just piece of mind really for the 75,000 mile service. They do change or replace a lot of things I do need done like clean and adjust parking brake, flush cooling system and replace, clean throttle body and lube linkage, and of course the oil and filter change. It's too cold here and my schedule is all screwed up to do it myself. At least Toyota will give me a free lowner car for the day. I just want to get it over with and hope Toyota doesn't tell me they found a serious problem that will cost another $600-$700.
