I got an import 3 months ago from japan. I always had this little headache about lifiting. Lift is intermittant when i cruise. Lately, i had a friend with me in my car and the lift occured at a terrible 7k6. I am so worried to have the lift bolts worn. Is there a way to really know that the bolt are worn before i just open the engine.

Can i know f the bolts have been change from a service document that maybe i can find online?

Please help cos i am gonna hate this car frown

p.s when i go to drag with it the lift it works fine but cruising it does not. Can it be a MAF problem? I had this rough idling yesterday from 500rpm to 1400rpm and then it just stopped at 1krpm after some time.

do you think my local agent should give me the warranty even if it is a japan import(i am from Malta)

you can check the bolts yourself easily, by removing the valve cover and removing the bolts.

You will need to proper tools and about 2 hours.

If you don't want to risk it, take it to Toyota or a service shop and have them do it for you.

Good luck, my bolts are broken, but I don't even care because my dealer will NEVER fix that frown

The average cruising RPM's is 3,000 So yeah I think you should switch gears more often. As for the bolt thing, I would take it to the Toyota service center because even if you do get it open and need to get them replaced, you'd have to put your engine back together and go get the parts.

ok i dont think this guy can drive and thats why his lift bolts are all messed up if ur cruisin at 7k rpm's then you dont know how to drive at all and its probably feelin crazy becuz ur constantly goin in and out of lift and thats why if they are at all worn

hmm.. i got misunderstood. When i mean crusing i wanted to say that i am not in the quarter mile. when i go to drag the lifting is ok but when i am driving in the roads i have some lift problems. for example. i rev 1st gear to 4k, 2nd to 5k then 3rd does not lift at 6k but at 7k for example, or later or sooner, depends on the road. is this normal??

Like they said: check your lift bolts and change gears once in a while, it'll do wonders for the longevity of your engine wave

Hi dudes,

the problem is solved. this carzy lift was usally happening in hills. my mechanic check it out and he found it was short on engine oil. The car takes care of itslef and uses the oil to firstly supply the pistons and all the other stuff and then with the rest it will lift the cams woth oil pressure.

SO.. No OIL.NO Pressure.No Lift.

BTW. Did you ever hear of the Omega oils which are said to be the best in the world. Engine oils last 50,000 miles and gear oils is for life. What do you think???

umm they can make the oil last that long, it is the wear of the engine particles getting in the oil that ruins it well before 50k miles

the gts has hydraulic lifters ? that is the only way i know of low oil affecting the valves. come on dude, pull the dipstick out if you are gonna race it. if you are gonna run it ragged, then make sure things are right. reminds me of 3 weeks ago when dude welded his spider gears in his diff together, he got about 70 feet out turned sideways and his left tire, brake drum and axle passed him
