You only have to clean it if your CEL comes on. Other than that, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

But here's some photos and instructions:

Hey guys, I have an automatic 2001 Celica gt, it's starting to have some issues. When I start the car now, it idles very rough/low and causes shaking. I have to review the gas to keep it idling. It shifts perfectly fine, but now when I try to accelerate it wants to act like it's not getting any gas. Recently changed oil, fuel filter and air filter. Could the MAF sensor need cleaned? When I was driving it today, it decided to not accelerate even though I put pedal to metal, and had to push it off the road.

1.rough idle
2. Acts as if it's not getting fuel
