I've been thinkin about picking up a set of harnessess basically for show purposes in the spring/summer. The impression I've gotten from doing a search on this site and other sites is that most 3 & 4 point harnesses are not street legal due to the safety issues with rolling the car, etc. I'm not particularly concerned with the legality because these will basically be for show but I would appreciate any more info people might have. I'm looking mostly at a 4-point harness. Thanks for any help

Don't use them on the street because if your car flips over and your roof caves in, your body has no where to go since your harness will be holding your body in a upright position in your seat. The stock seat belts allow your body to move to either side in the event of a roof caving in. Safety first.

You use yours for auto-x right? That type is probably quite a bit more expensive. I'm not even sure if the kind I've been looking at could be used on a track.

The brand I have is TOM's. All they do is hold your body in the seat while performing lateral G's. I DO NOT wear the harnesses on the street or in any environment where the car has a high possibility of being hit. Autox is VERY safe and has a low possiblilty of fliping.

About how much was yours? Yah, I don't plan on driving on the street with them but if the harness I bought had functionality on the track that would be preferable. I've heard of TOMs before though...good stuff?

where were you thinking of having the install points? The back two straps you can see in the picture are bolted to (or by?) your back seats. The other two can be bolted to your factory belt locations beside your seat as far as I can tell. I remember reading a post on this site I think and the person wanted to have the harness bolted in the back but still be able to have people use the back seat haha, yeeeeeeeeah. Anyways, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think they bolt up pretty easily.

No, mine are stock seats. I've only seen a few pictures of harnesses on stock seats but they didn't look that bad. These are my seats now...

yeah, if you get them they'll flow with your seats. I'm considering harnesses as well, but only after purchasing Sparco Torino 2's .

TRD makes a whole bunch of cool stuff, but most of it is for the Supra, like racing seats ***drools***

I dunno, seems like a waste of money since they're just for show. Kinda like mounting an intercooler for looks, without even having a turbo attached to it..
