My friend just got the s2000 antenna and as we were trying to take off the old antenna on his gts the antenna got twisted and a simple mod has turned into a headache. Is the problem because the antenna is electric and thats why we can't jusr screw it off? Please help and every post is appreciated thumbsdown

eek NO, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING!

You can't use an s2000 antenna on the powered stock antenna base.

If you've broken something, at this point, there is little else you can do. What is the problem exactly? You bent the rod?

You might be able to remove the electric motor by removing the plastics in the trunk, and reaching it through there. This is just a guess.
Whatever you do, don't think that you can remove an electric antenna from the exterior of the car, because it's not like an unpowered antenna, you can't just twist it off.

You will need to remove the power antenna and the motor somehow most likely. As to how you can do that... idunno

The most logical way would be to try and take the plastics on your trunk off, and see if you can get to it that way.

I'm sure they will remove it for you, but they would most likely charge you if they even decide to do it at all. You can probably do it yourself. Somehow. happywink

If I were you, I would take it to the dealer ASAP...How is the reception now that it's broken? Keep us posted, and good luck wink

yeah, try the dealer. They'll charge you but at least it'll save you the proverbial headache which you mentioned (if it's not too late)

Open your trunk, and the little pannel that looks like a vent on the right will open up, and you can access the antenna assembly from there. Take a look around, and see if it's something that you want to mess with or not. Won't hurt to take a peek.

Why did he want an S2000 antenna when he has the power antenna? The S2000 antennas sticks out & doesn't give the Celica a clean look. He should be happy to have a power antenna. IMO

I hope you didn't break anything, but yeah, try taking it to the dealer & see what they say.

Best deal would be to take it to the dealer. I myself would prefer a power antenna-that way my S2000 won't get stolen again.

i think the s2000 antenna looks better, and when you have the power antenna out, its a lightning rod

Exactly. When the power antenna isn't in use, then it will look good, but when it is, it will be a lightning rod.

You could always just do away with the power and s2000 antenna, and get one of those ones that you can mount on your rear window. Not the kind that sticks up, but the kind that lays flat against the surface of the hatch glass. I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to route the wire into the trunk under the liner and hook it up to the antenna wire on the right side of the trunk.
