This might be a stupid question, but im bored and just decided to ask: If you have engine bay space, would you be able to put in a supercharger and then add a turbo, if not why not??

its not a matter of room in most cars...the internals can't handle all the force thumbsdown

Its possible. The Lancia Delta was both turboed and supercharged. Plus, it was only 4 cylinder. thumbsup

I would think it would choke your engine to death. It's not about how much room there is, but weather or not your engine can process that much air. I would also believe that the supercharger and the turbocharger would have to be perfectly in sync. Don't get me wrong, anything's possible.

i agree the concept is 'cool' and uninformed people will be amazed by the marvel of a supercharged turbo car.

but anyone with a decent knowlege of cars will come up with the same reaction i did.

if its for the sake of doing it, then i can understand, but there are people actually thinking to themselfs "wow, i want to do both" and i cant help but laugh at them.

It should be possible, if you have the money. But if I had that kind of money, I wouldn't buy me a Celica but a Porsche (isn't that more expensive here in Europe, for a boxster of course).

But 2 turbo's (or 1turbo+1sc) on a 4 cyl is possible, even with a Diesel engine. Look at the link.

1.9l Diesel with 2 turbo's putting out 212hp and 400Nm of torque (295 lbft, from 1400rpm on)

2 turbo 4cyl [ultimatecarpage.com]

hmm i dont know if its really possible.
Either way though your motor would have to be rebuilt pretty strong to hold all that power and force.
