No need to remove them.

Also, if you haven't already bought the paint, I know of a GREAT brand. I used it on my last car and I've already purchased some for the celica (I just need to get off my ass and go paint laughsilly)

idunnoyou get what you pay for.

The link I gave comes with brake cleaner, brushes, gloss and paint. It's a total package, and high quality.

I've seen too many of the "high temp. paint" from auto stores flake and peel off over time. It's your choice, though.

yea i painted mine today. not the smartest thing that i have ever done. it started out great with outside temp at 50. but when i got to the two back one around 5 the temp fell to 35. not wat you should be painting in lol. but i brought it in the garage and finished her up and the front two look great. the back two need a couple more coats and thats all.

one stupid question tho...

do you just take your rims off and spray the paint on calipers? wont the paint get on somewhere else on the car?

The link I posted comes with a brush, no spraying involved.

But, if you do use the spray kind, just get some newspaper and mask off the area really well.

cover everything other than the caliper with newspaper, cover a bit of your fender too... just to be careful

use 1200 degree paint and spray about 6 coats, then spray on about 4 coats of high temp clear coat.

When it comes to red paint, is their a limited amount of shades out there? Or can you find a variety? I want a deep red color and not so much "bozo the clown" red. LoL happywink

there are a few shades, not as many as usuall because most high temp paints only come in basic colors.

Im gonna paint mine this weekend. I have a GT so the problem is that i only have front calipers. Ive seen other cars that have the rear drums painted, but i dont think it looks good. Would painting just the front 2 look ok ?

look i took the rim of and i scrubed my calipers hardcore with a metal brush to get all of the dirt off. masked off the area with a paper bag and masking tape. and sprayed a thin coat. then waited about 3-4 min and did another. i did 5 good coats. i reconmmend at least 4. then i let them sit for 20-30 min to completely dry and set. put the tires on tight and ur ready to go.

the paint i used was Plasti-kote Brake Caliper Paint. i used the red (which after the 5 costs does have a gloss to it). good to 900 degree f and can be used on ur engine block too (i don't but you can). The red is bozo the clown red and does draw attention to it. the Can can do all four calipers in 5 coats. i did heavy coats (which isn't the best way) and still have a little bit left that i am going to touch them up a lil more because i got a lil left.

the reaction in skool today was mostly did you get new rims. no joke. i said that they were stock and they were shocked. haven't gotten any negitive raction for anybody yet. some said that they wouldhave liked yellow better but it don't bother me.

Advice is take ur time and do a good job. also if you can get all four wheels in the air it will make it ten time easier than me and the stock jack lol.

simple, easy, no help needed, adds at the min 20 hp and stops 10 ft faster a sec. happywink

pics are comming soon because i am about to take them, and try to figure out how you post them
