Just opened it!! I cant believe how F*cking light this thing is!! So, when I go to install it is it hard to line up?? Also, my hoodpins havent arrived yet. You think itll be ok if I put it on and just dont drive on the highway till they get here??
VIS OEM, lookin' good. Install should be easy however having someone else to help you line it up would make it easier. As long as you don't go crazy fast the hood should be ok with the latch - just put those hood pins in quick bro and let us see pics when its done
I got it off of e-bay!!! It lines up great, the only thing is that since my car got hit about three weeks ago; The left front side is a little off. but my VS front should be in next week and they are gonna fix all the front end and line everything up. They are gonna mold the front and rear in!!!
hey thats a 20 minute phone call "if i have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" derek: do you know that non dairy cream is flamable Jennie: ...derek..what did you do
yea just some tips...make ur car look way nicer/cleaner...remove the sickers ...u should of keep the rims silver...thats about all you can do to help ha...just a suggestion
Says its VIS...I have to admit, Ive never bought one of these bofore so I wouldnt even know how to tell?? Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!!! I did get it off E-bay...355.00 shipped!!!! Said it was VIS. I dunno...it fits great though..I just have to get my front end fixed.
Oh...any questions at all just ask. It wasnt that hard to put on, but the hoodpins came it tonight, they are a different story. Gotta be a fucking rocket scientist to figure them out???

don't mess them up, because you don't really have a second chance once you've drilled.
since you're taking it to the shop already for some other work, I'd just have them do it.

i have to agree with evan.
since you have never attempted anything like this before i wouldnt recommend it.
Well...the thing is, is it wont be in the shop till sometime next week. Its kind of lifted up on one side if you look on the pic. I have to drive on the highway for work etc. Im worried about the wind catching it and ripping it off. I just need to know if there is a special drill bit I should use or not? Other than that Im cool.

One week isn't that far away. Just put the stock one back on until you can have it properly installed.

My dad's got a VIS carbon hood on his 250bhp audi A4, and he doesn't use hood pins. Been driving it for a year now (a LOT on the highway) and never had any problems.
btw, if it's a VIS hood they've got their logo on the hood (under, ofcourse...)
seems like VIS knows what they're doing when it comes to Carbon Fiber hoods. everyone I've talked to says they fit straight on with no problem. same with the A4. no problems at all. exept we had to move the washer jets for the front windshield.
I've had my VIS hood on for over a month, driven it freeway speeds pretty often and the hood doesn't even move up and down slightly at those speeds. Just my two cents and I'm not saying hoodpins are in anyway a bad idea but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Looks cleaner without hoodpins anyways. I don't plan on keeping my Carbon Fiber on for longer highway trips anyways so I'm happy with it the way it is

I agree that without hoodpins it's much cleaner, however personally I'd have them just for peace of mind if I got a Carbon Fiber hood. Also I've heard that VIS has issues with fitment (passenger side gaps) whereas FiberImages or o.e. tuning do not...
yeah better safe than sorry. put them hoodpins on. however i was at the shop with my friend who was ordering his Carbon Fiber hood, and the guy told us that there are only about 2 out 80 cars that he's sold Carbon Fiber hoods to that have flown off. so i'm guessing it's not likely unless you're like gunning it on the highway...
