there's a recall on it..
it's on the 03 models,so i'm assuming you have an 03.
take it to the dealer and they will fix it for you for free.

edit: just looked at your profile and it says 02.. i would think toyota would fix yours for free too... i could be wrong though. best thing to do is call up the dealership.

It happened once on my 02 but it was the pumps fault not the cars.

I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

ok i just looked at the recall sheet that toyota mailed to my house...

"SSC 30B - Late 2002 and early 2003 Model year toyota celica Fuel Tank Check Valve Safety Recall"

What is the problem?

"In certain late 2002 through early 2003 model year celica vehicles, the fuel tank check valve, located in the fuel takn inlet pipe, may become separated from the inlet pipe and fall into the fuel tank. if the check valve falls into the tank, fuel may spill from the fuel inlet pipe when the fuel pump automatically shuts off during fueling. In the worst case, this may result in a fire in the presense of an ignition source."

What will toyota do?

"Any Toyota dealer will inspect and, if necessary, repair the fuel tank check valve at NO COST to you."

What should you do?
"Please contact your authorized Toyota dealer to make an appointment at your earliest convenience.
The labor time necessary is approximately 2 hours. However, depending upon the dealer's work schedule, it may be necesary to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time. If possible, please bring the vehicle to the dealer with a minimal amount of fuel in the tank."

It also says to bring the notice to the toyota dealer... but i don't know if you guys got them in the mail or not...
if you guys have questions call up the toyota customer assistance center at 1-800-331-4331

Yes, there's a recall on this. I've had mine replaced.

Just take it to the dealer and they'll fix it for free.
