... have a loud, I guess, drivetrain? Whenever I downshift (stopping) I get a chattering/buzzy kind of sound. I test drove an older celica a few days ago and it made similar sounds. I was just wondering if this was normal. BTW I have 26000 miles on her, and she's an '02 THNX

Yes I have an '03 celi and i've taken it back to Toyota. Apparently it's a common thing (or problem, if you wanna call it) with all celicas. Its not detrimental to the engine but somehow annoying. Toyota Australia says the noise can be minimised by changing the clutch plate. I've got mine changed oredi and it has minimised the noise. Cheers.

Thanks man, I kind of thought it might have been something with the clutch.

ANother thing it does is when I downshift to 3rd or 2nd, there's a subtle grinding, and the car kind of shakes, or convulses. Could this maybe be something with the differential?

It's cheaper to replace your brakes then your clutch/trans.
