ok, i know people have asked that before...and i read all the stuff about Turbochargers, Turbo etc plus some people say that its hard to drive Turbo with the front whell drive etc..
so basically i want to get a subaru wrx..its a little more expensive, but what i dont like about it is the look thumbsdown Celica is sooo much betta..
how much would you really have to spend to be able 2 beat wrx ? basically, what would i be looking at if i wanna have the celi with the perfomance of a wrx? thanks.

I thought the only Turbo kit for the GTS cost 5k?

Anyways, with Intake, exhaust, and a good driver in a GTS, it is very possible to take a WRX, and you have a slightly better chance to take an automatic.

A car can only go as fast as its driver can drive it. With that said, a really good driver in a GTS can take a decent driver in a WRX.

The STI is another story. grin

Also considering WRX myself, very cheap price for an awd Turbocharged car. It's nice because the Turbo has lots of upgrading potential and you can have fun with the AWD. Stock vs Stock the wrx doesn't have that great of an advantage. it loses a lot of that hp from the AWD, the launch will be faster, but then it is up to the driver.

YEah I agree with you about the looks, sure it's not a celica or a 350z but hey it doesn't look THAT bad. IMO nicer than a civic or something. It has the rally look to it, which isn't bad it's just different than traditional rice rice

turbo is always way to go, unless you want to rebuild your engine for racing, which is highly maintenance...
Even with 350z, the sti will beat it no matter what.
which the same amount of money spent, the Turbo car will always be faster

i would get a Turbo for your car. dont settle for less (looks-wise) by going with the wrx. i mean, i like them, but i wouldnt want one. and, not to call for flaming or anything, but im really tired of the 350z copout. it seems like anytime anyone asks what they can do to improve the car they have (more often than not on this site, the celica) people immediately say dump the celi and go with the 350z, no matter how much the person states that they want to invest time and money in their celi. im not bagging on the 350 or anything, but is that all there really is out there? does nobody here have any faith in the celi? it just seems kinda sad. sorry to get off topic

I've driven the standard Impreza/WRX and it really isn't anything special. From point to point its definitely no quicker than the GTS and despite 4wd acceleration is certainly no better. Supercharge a GTS and you'll more than likely eat a WRX if you're a half decent driver. Uprate the brakes and get top notch coilovers, AVO or H&R and it'll probably corner better than a WRX too. Like he just said /\ people should have more faith in the Celica. A 350Z not only costs a hell of a lot more to buy, but also costs a lot more to run. fuel/insurance/tax etc. And personally its not really worth the money. Before anything I'd go for the RX8.
