There is likely a reason for this that I am ignorant of, but can anyone tell me why the hood scoop on my 03 gts routs air down and over the exhaust manifold?

Why not route the air, at least some of it over the Intake manifold to help keep it cooler?

Im guessing that Celica dose this to prevent the exhaust manifold from over heating.

From what I have been reading I thought it was better to keep the exhaust gases as hot as possible, hence the reason why some people go as far as to wrap insulating material around the exhaust manifold to boost Performance, although I suppose like anything else this can be taken too far?
