Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior factory in dash cd changer

i have a 2000 celica with 6 speakers and i was looking at a facotry tundra in dash 6 cd player. the tundra has 8 speakers. i want to know if anyone has installed a tundra in dash factory deck into there celica. any idea, or comments? both decks look exactly the same in the front.

i think as long as the wiring harness is the same... it should work... because the harness for toyota stock bitches are differnt then the harnesses comming off of aftermarket ones...

i have a 10 changer in the trunk and aftermarket deck, and its all powered well, right off the stock harness,with an adapter to match my aftermarket harness (wires)

the harness for 6 and/or 8 speakers are different... but... all toyoya model '87 up w/6 speaker is the same! Look for 6 speakers only. You can get the harness @ PEP Boys for less than $15.
Or ... You can get @ Toyota a 6 CD changer for around $400!!!!

I changed the oem radio for a sony xplod (single din)that I used to have in my old car... and I added a sony 10 cd changer w/ mp3 for $150...
The sound even better... and sony gives me the choice of EQ!
No bad (at least for a while) ...

I would definitely go with an aftermarket head unit, Xover & amp for best sound.(Or amp with built-in Xover)
