This is just a request for some comments and a few n00bish questions.
First off, does everyone like the new '04? I'm just realizing the front end looks different than most of the pictures I'm seeing.
N00b question: do the new 04's have HID? The "factory HID" everyone is talking about? Would it be listed somewhere for me if this isn't standard on 04's?
N00b question #2: What kind of gas do most folks use? Donno if they recommend a certain grade or not. And yes, I've been too lazy to even crack the cover on my owners manual yet, lol. Only had this thing a few days now anyway.
One other question... are TRD parts (since they're Toyota) allowed with my 100K/7 yrs. warranty? I bought the car outright (wrote 'em a check) but I wanted the fat warranty so I got that too. Yes, I own the vehicle, but I don't want to void anything. Or do I have to talk to my local service dude and see what he will let me get away with?
I've got more than enough money to mod this thing just about any way I'd like to, but my warranty staying valid is very important.
Thanks for the opinions and the answers to my n00bish questions!

i like the new '04s hid's are an option, and i like them a lot if you have a gt, then you can buy regular 89 ocatane gas. if you drive a gts, then supreme 91 octane gas is recommended by toyota yes, if you get them installed by a toyota dealer.

Yep, with the gts you should really spend the extra money for the 91 octane.

-the 04 action package is a lot more different than the previous... -HIDs are not standard. when i bought my celica, it was something like a $400 add-on... -always read your owner's manual, you can learn the basic repairs about your car. i, myself use sunoco 94 octane... -if you have the TRD parts and installed by a dealer, it should be under warranty. anything else is a no...by the way, the dealer's extended warranty is nothing but BS...

- I like the stock 04 better than the stock 00-03. I like the 00-03 action package better.
- HIDs have been an option for at least a couple of years. Check your window sticker to see if they are listed as an option...
- 89 is okay in the GT. The GTS requires 91. The compression ratio is so high in the GTS, I would never even think about going down from 91.
- TRD parts are covered if installed by the dealer... but that doesn't mean you have to go that route. After market parts only void the warranty for that part of the car, or if it directly causes damage. Say you buy an exhaust (any brand)... the exhaust wouldn't be covered since it's not factory. However, they couldn't void the warranty on the engine because of that exhaust.

Thanks for the opinions and the answers to my n00bish questions! 1. the 03-04 front looks different than the 00-02...the celica was refreshened for 2003 and up. 2. the HID is not standard on 2004..it is optional and to find out if you have it...either look at your window sticker or look at the headlight...the housing and bulbs/color are completely different. 3. for a GTS, use 91 Octane...for GT, use whatever 4. if you have TRD parts, they are warranted by TRD (Toyota) so you're actually fine.

$400 add on for hid's are so bad since i'm going to custom mine with ece hid projectors so it'll end up costing about the same only with the euro spec output

Around here, in VA, every new celica that has the action package has the factory HID's. I've yet to see any with HID's, minus the action package.
And speaking of the action package, I've yet to see any the new one around here. Is it on the streets yet?

My dealer had on w/the action package, fyi.
W00t on the TRD stuff. Just ordered a spoiler from the dealer, the stock GT one, which I actually like better than the TRD, and just bought some TRD springs from some dude here on the forum. Guess I'll have the dealer chuck it all on at once for me.
And I read the manual. *shrug*

I have an '03 Celica GTS. They did change the front end of them for '03 (and up). I actually like the look of the '00-'02 front end better..but what are ya gonna do?? It still looks good. The taillights are also different. I like them better than '00-'02.
My Celica has HID...they're great. I use the premium gas...that's what is recommended for the GTS. I wouldn't use anything less. I actually get pretty good gas mileage too.

Using the low octance gas even once is not a good idea, Caleb. It says "Premium Fuel Only" on the gas door for a reason. If you think I'm wrong, fill 'er up with the cheap stuff, rev to redline and hit lift, and when your car knocks and stalls out, you'll see my point.

I ran my car on 87 (01 GTS) for over a month before i knew the compression was so high. Hell even sometimes i still put 89 in it.

Mine does, and did. If you think it's ok to burn that kind of fuel in your engine, go ahead and do it. Ignorance to the needs of a high compression engine is no excuse.

actually, the new action package is for '04.5. There are '04's for sale around here with the old action pack.

^^correct...
gjgts toyota's website says that HID's are only optional on GT and GTS WITHOUT action package...
so you can't get HID if you have NEW action package cause of those color coded headlights.

I have a question for you 2k4Celica... When you press the gas pedal, does it wait to kick in til you've already pushed it a half inch or so, or is it immediate when barely pushed in? (I have an '04 without the action package, and it seems like my throttle cable might be loose. Except I don't have a throttle cable, and thus don't know how to fix the problem Wondering if I should make good on my warranty and have 'em fix it, or if it's like that on all of 'em.)
