Wow. Thats all I have to say. I've had my Celi for about 5 months now and the engine light has come on 4 different times but toyota says they dont know what the problem is, or that it could be electrical. I dont believe it but they know more than me. I have found a pattern, tho, for what might be the cause of this. The light comes on after every time I slam on my brakes and skid about 30 feet. I've only done it about 3 times which doesn't make it a regular thing but I cant see how thats the cause. My belt makes a sound it never made before when I bought the car too. But thats a new belt so it can't be the problem(toyo installed themselves). Anyways, this post was just to see if I could get any hints as to why my Cel has a "faulty" engine issue.

My check engine light comes on quite regularly too. I particularly notice it when I go on long drives. But then it just goes off by itself. I don't know what the problem might be. Took it to Toyota last year, they said nothing was wrong. When I do an oil change the light tends to go off. confused

tell the dealer to check the crank pulley, and the accessory pulley bolts...as well as how tight the motor mounts are...A buddy of mine had a nissan that did that when he bought it, and it ended up being that he was getting too much engine vibration, and when he slammed the brakes, some sensor went off for the crank position...they ended up putting a new harmonic balancer on it, and making sure the timing on the crank and cam were TDC, and everything was tightened down...no problems since...

hope it helps with ideas thumbsup

^^ Thanks for the help ^^
That sound that I think could be the belt may just be something knocking like Azz said. I'll have to talk to the toyo dealer about it or prolly a better, and less time consuming dealer.

Well it happened two nights ago. Anyone from Sacramento should know about Sunrise Blvd and how it used to/still is a cruising zone for racers. I raced an old BMW and screwed him up bad but came up too fast on a car who stoped for a yellow light. Hense the brake usage. :-/
