check out the installs page on this site. It'll show you how to remove the console and that's all. I wish they would've show more detail. do you have premium sounds system in ur car?? i think you need some kind of special harness to bypass the stock amp. how much you pay for your kit? what's the model number i want to get one. grin

it depends... you should just need to buy a harness for the celica and you should be good... but if you have the upgraded sound package like the JBL then you need to take it to a pro so they can catch the speakers before they hit the factory amp... i got mine done for 40 bux and sound advice thumbsupGL

don't connect to the harness, directly go right to an aftermarket amp (RCA)...

If you dont know much about elecronics ... I'd get it installed, then it's under warranty if they screw up some how. If you screw up then you'll be pulling your hair out trying to figure out where you went wrong. I dont advise big places like Tweeter or Best buy (way over priced) But professional car audio places dont cost that much for just head unit install.

I knew nothing about these installs and I just finished my entire replacement of my system, door speakers, rear speakers, amps, subs, head unit, the whole bit. I'd say right around 10 hours labor all together. Saved me $350.00.

If you wanna attempt it I can give you pretty good advice. My install was on an 04 GT. I'll put up pics of my ride soon once I get the rest of my goodies done on it.

i need some advice. Does ur celi have premium sound?? because my GTS does and that's why i was asking if you need to bypass the amp or not and what model/kind of harness did you get for it. I'm all for DIY on my ride, i love doing those kind of thing..i like it better if i put it together..So basically what did you do?? pm me and help me out bro.. grin

Yeah, factory amp behind the glovebox in the GTS, far as I know the speakers in the "premium" sound are nested and the steps are the same to replace 'em. Just remember to drill out the rivets carefully and it's easy to reuse the factory mounts.

I just cut the speaker out, snipped the supports off and was left with an empty ring that my new 6.5 round fit into perfectly. Just screwed it in, the plastic is really soft and it's super easy.

What exactly are you going to install?

hey bro, you think you can get me some pics for what you just said?? i'm not good with directions, i do betta with pics and words at the same time..See what i want to do is just to install an aftermarket cd/mp3 player and nothing else. I know the harness with cost like $15-20 and the kit is $20. But i dunno where to start after i remove console and the old stereo. So with an aftermarket stereo the stock amp won't be use at all?? i've search all the thread but can't really find what i'm looking for. i evn Post a new thread but no answer..Hope you can help me out bro. i just need to know exactly, step by step, what to do with the harness and the wire from the amp, etc..i've heard about a special harness needed to bypass the amp and such but no clue what that mean..help me out. appreciated, much.
