I'm looking to buy a Celica this weekend.
So far I'm requiring a GTS 6-spd (used).

Anything else I should be looking for? Difference in years? (looking for 2000 or later of course)

I wanna make sure I get the right one the first time, so I don't have to trade it later wink

I don't have a lot of cash, maybe like 15 grand, lower is better though!

Thanks!

2000 - early 01 has a different transmission
late 01 is the best, IMO better tranny, no rev limiter, throttle cable
02 has rev limiter
03-04 have no rev limiter, different gauges (look stupid, IMO) and drive by wire (problems for Turbo's, etc)

However, the 03+ has a black interior with better leather, and amber center console to match the gauges, and a different hatch garnish.

Also, the 03+ has a new front end that looks like a cat fish.

^03+ also has TWO hooks on the driver's floor mat so it won't move around grin

i just bought a 00 gts last week and i'm very happy, make sure you go with the gts tho, in my opinion, that VVTL-I is amazing. also you might want to ask if the belt tensioner or engine lift bolts were ever repaired b/c i think those two things are a common problem.

Ok, thank you folks.

I think I'll be looking for a 2000-2001 then! (Unless I can find an 03+ I can afford tongue )

GTS and 6-spd are an absolute must, I'm not gonna settle for anything less than that! (I want LIFT!) grin

What was the tranny change in late 01?

I'll try for an '01, but we'll see. Not sure what kind of selection they're gonna have out in Lancaster, or how much it's gonna cost!

wasn't aware of that... that's one thing that's really annoying with mine - mats move around like crazy

All of the interior lighting is also amber on the '03+ (instead of having some amber and some green).

Could have fooled me.. my driver side mat gives me a lot of problems, even with the hooks it still manages to find it's way up and over the pedals. So I keep on taking it out and trying again later hoping it will some how stop doing that lol.
