hi guys, im just wondering, since my auto lands at 5700rpm when it shifts to next gear, will it be possible to have it land at 6000+ rpm if i add header and exhause?
i have a AEM CAI now.

i know it's pointless, but i just wanted to know grin

your exhaust and header will not make you land at cetrain rpms...it's the tranny that does that...a auto GTS will never land lift. there was a tbko shift kit that made the gts auto shift more like a manual but there was some overheating and CEL's so the project was dumped. thumbsdown

since you have a auto gts why don't you trdae for a 6sp? your auto will have a better re-sale value and is worth more than a manual. so maybe (with some bargaining and haggling) you won't be upsdide down so much on the payments...

It wouldn't effect your gearing, so no. Maybe the PowerFC could effect the shifting point though.

here is a dyno of an AUTO GTS...it showed 154whp with i/e...the others were various shots of nitrous oxide...if you don't mnd to spray or go Turbo then you can put decent numbers on the car. it's only stupid if you think it's stupid. from stock 140whp and 115 lbs. of tq to 212 whp and 219 lbs of tq isn't too bad...

unfortunately if you want serious hp you would want FI...guys with bolts ons don't get that much hp out of it. guys like illusive and lucky are the exception...90% of GTS drivers don't drive like them. but anyway why would you want to go that fast? people at b.c. drive so slow anyway the rcmp would spot you like a sore thumb...lol j/k.

why do gts' get broken lift bolts?
why does lift engage so late?
why isn't the mr-2 equipped with a 2zz motor?
why haven't trd (or any other company) made cams for the 2zz?
why make an auto tranny for a GTS? if so, why make it a 4-speed auto instead of 5?

toyota is not to blame, sometimes things fall through the cracks...and sometimes you just don't question the 'shrooms'...

why do gts' get broken lift bolts? they probly didnt expect people to be in lift half the time they were driving lol, but yea, toyota is stupid for making the lift bolts so week
why does lift engage so late? if it engages earlier then it bogs or something like that from the cam being too agressive
why isn't the mr-2 equipped with a 2zz motor?
why haven't trd (or any other company) made cams for the 2zz? they have come out with cams
why make an auto tranny for a GTS? if so, why make it a 4-speed auto instead of 5? totally agree

actaully:
trd has come up with prototype cams. the project was dumped so no one will have it.
well i-vtec on the rsx-s hits at 5800rpm and it's the smae principle as lift.

i just like it's high revving engine, and everytime the auto shifts that fall away from the sweet spot makes me depress...and when it hit lift again, im happy again lol!

Sometimes I wish I had an auto for when I'm really tired and don't feel like shifting all of the time, or for when I have a drink in the car because those cup holders in a manual car are worthless.

rofltoyota should use that as a slogan for the auto gts..."the 180hp automatic transmission toyota celica gts...for when you drink in the car because those cup holders in a manual car are worthless."

tasty off topic in my own thread...i got the PIAA 4700K Xtreme Force for my high beam. the size is HB, which will fit on both 9005s and 9006s.
for those who think Xtreme white plus (4000K) is too yelloish, go search ebay for this one!

and i also got the PIAA quattro LED for my parking light~
