I've considering getting the one made by AEM. According to their spec sheets, compared to a stock GT, maximum horsepower gain is 6.1 HP at 6750 RPMs. Maximum torque gain is 6.3 ft-lb at 4000 RPMs. Again, these values are the maximum difference compared to what it would be for a stock GT at those RPMs.

Considering CAI systems cost around $200 - $300, is it worth it considering the (minimal) gains listed above?

For those that have GTs and have a CAI system installed, can you actually notice a difference in Performance? I know that it will SOUND a lot better, but it terms of Performance, I wonder if it's worth spending $200 - $300 on.

Thats what ive been thinking. What about just getting a new filter. TRD and K&N make filters that soppsilvely give you more hp. Do the filters give you any power?

Also I what about pulleys. I heard there less than $100 and give you like 3 hp.

yes it is worth it, but in my opinion, id say get an injen, aem, gives more hp down in the lower rpms, injen gives it to you in the higher end, since gt has more tq then gts id say go with injen, thats what i did!!

get the aem cai... also, pulleys will give at most 1 hp gain not 3+ - but get that as well. Like eric stated, there aren't many Performance mods for the GT so utilize those that we do have...

heres the thing, injen has been reported a few times of holes in the tubing(how would you like to get some dirt or a rock in there and blow an engine) AEM so far has a perfect record amongst celica owners

if you have a gt auto like me go with aem, you will need the trq in lower rmps just to help you off the line, when your zooming down the highway, boost preformace isnt a factor anymore... gaining speeds at lower speeds is easier then at higher speeds.

just get a aem replica cold air on ebay and replace the filter with a nice K&N, its the same thing as a real AEM !!!!! only with out the name and a hell of a lot cheap.

Hey the Cold Air Intake is one of the basic mod in Performance wise! Hum Yeah Cold Air Intake in a must.. you will gain HP and oh yeah, they are noticeable! thumbsup.. I have an Injen Race D... and its good, you can feel the extra boost.. but it wouldn't be bad to have it also with the lower RPM! and those K&N, TRD stock filters are a waste of money.. no HP gain! thumbsdown.. so I think that you should get a CAI.. goodtimes

if not for the power, i would do it for the sound. so if you ever worried about hydrolocking, then get a short ram. i think an Intake is a must on any celica.

i'll ditto that. shortram is a bit cheaper and will make a similar sound.

also, if you get an exhaust or header the gains made by a cai or shortram will also increase (it won't just stay at 2-3 whp).

cai and shortram produce similar power on an otherwise stock celica. if exhaust components are added the gap widens (in favor of cai) and the differences become more noticeable. thumbsup
