I took my car in for 90K service, new front brakes and new iridium plugs yesterday. And today, my car won't start???
I bought a carstart (thing you charge then starts your car) and it started fine. Its not my battery(which I hope)or starter. I think it is my alternator. They are not cover under warranty right? Im going to have to read my warranty.
but does anybody know how much is an alternator with instal at a toyota dealership or an estimate a my local shop. Just want to get feedback before I start calling. By the way, Im taking it back to the dealership and try to blame them for that.

new alt i think for the dealership goes for around 300. intall is easy i would just do it urself.

note: i still have my stock alt smile and i would probably be willing to part with it?. . pm me if you have any questions.

for replacing the alt, its simple as releasing the tension then moving the belt off, taking out 3 bolts, swap the alt, and reverse the process. its easy.

Thanks for the info. I will first go check and see if I can blame them for the problem, if all fails, then I will PM. Good looking out.

My battery was no good. I had to buy a new one, so I bought an Optima red top. did want a yello top cause I didn't have any stereo mods, but thats alright.
Are they better than oem?

yes, the Optima red is a good choice for a replacement starter battery and since you don't have any audio mods, the yellow is unnecessary.
