i took my car to some new shop that opened up..so they can install an lcd screen into my center console. when i picked up the car..it was one of the worst jobs EVER...he scratched my whole dash up...put the lcd screen in CROOKED..he jammed my aftermarket dvd/cd/radio into the storage area ontop of where the radio used to be..its angeled up..and you cant read anything..or see the buttons..also..the storage area is all broken and a mess..u have no idea how bad it looks. n e wayz..anybody else have any horrible stories like this?..casue im flipping..and im calling this ass today and telling him..fix it or else. if i have problemns with him..im going to have to go to my usual guy..and have him fix it..he can make it perfect..but its going to cost a lot more money now to fix what that dirty bastard did to my console. grrrrrr..i dont feel likg oing into details..sut wanted to vent...ill post pics up when i get it perfect..oh yeah!..i almost forgot..to turn on the screen..i have to tie 2 wires together that are left ahnging on my floor...dude..its pathetic..it was late and i jsut picke dup the car without looking at it till the next morning..ahh grrrr..you people will see what im talking about..ill put b4 and after pics...(b4=the job that asshole did..& after=either him fixing it ..or me breaking his knee caps and ten going to my original guy to fix)

i know how you feel man...
7 days after buying my Panasonic celi, i had mylocal
van and truck world install my subs...
the dumbass installer scratched the dash all over just trying to pry the center console off, then he didn't know how to detach the climate controls so he stratched the clips trying to work on it... now with the console in place you can see the gap between the climate control and the stereo... Oh and he wired the sub to my amp wrong, and i was recieving vocals from my sub. Overall WORST JOB i've ever dealt with.. i asked them to pay or repair the damages.. and all the installer said was "i dind't do it.."
when the car brand new and he was the only one who workd on it...
rule of thumb for me... i go to Norton electronics..
been around for over 25 years... they charge alittle more than the other shops.. but i'm always satisfied witht here work, and i only go to them for all my electronic installs...
I suggest go to the shops with the most experience, they usually have been through any problem you can name..

I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but why didn't you just take it to your "usual guy" - the one you KNOW will get the job done correctly... confused

Saving a few $$$ doesn't sound like its worth "worse case scenario"... especialy when you know that spending a few extra $$$ will get the job done PERFECTLY to your standards thumbsup

Recommendation to fellow Celi owners:

Take pics of your car right in front of them so they know you have proof of what your car looked like beforehand. I always do this as a precaution and because of this I have never gotten bad service. smile

I second that... I installed my Clarion DXZ838RMP with the help of the Tech Info and Installation guides on this site... I used a wiring harness adapter to fit the harness of the car and radio, and all I really had to do was find the wire from the speedometer (to make the Speed Dependent Volumen Control work) and that was luckily placed just in front of the gear shifter...

i feel you man, that's why i do every by myself. it better work than most of the shop. and you know what's wrong when youa re doing it.

I remember when i took my car for the audio shop to install my sub and amp, they forgot to put screws everywhere and the bottom part of my passenger side dash was falling off, and the carpet was all coming off...
that's when i learn my lesson and do everything by myself and help my good old friend.

nobody care about your car as much as you do, unless if you pay a lot for real good shop. and they usually do shitty job.

its always good to ask for their portfolio to see the work they have done. talk with people who have had stuff done there before and see how they liked it. finally dont forget to lie, not moral? maybe... but trust me you get a better quality job if you tell them your "future plans" for you car when you get more cash and how you want them to do it. if they think you will be coming back to spend more cash they will do a better job, maybe even give you a better price, worked for me more then once. if all else fails threaten them let them know if there work sucks you will be outside drinking pink lemonade showing their piss poor job to anyone wlaking by. hell im even sure the cops will understand when they come and see the job he did. spread the word so he loses his business if he doesnt fix the fuck up. hell for a hack job like you got i wouldnt even want him to touch it anymore, i would make him pay to have it done somewhere else.

here are the overal complaints:

Complaints:

Plexi glass was used and scratched
center conole's paint was chipped and scratched
installation was incomplete, wires were left visable on the
floor
vinyl border on tv was cut crooked
vinyl border was scratched
tv was disassembled without the consent of the owner.
Storage compartment was supposed to be modified to fit the
radio, but it was destroyed, left scratched and damaged -
the areas with the damage had NOTHING to do with the
installation of the radio.

- the car was brought into the BLESSED sound and Performance
auto shop to have an LCD screen/5.6" tv installed into the
center console. The original radio was going to be replaced
on top of the console in an empty storage compartment with
an aftermarket radio. The screen would then be placed in the
area where the original radio was. Aside from the fact that
the installation was incorrect and done without any care or
respect for the owners vehicle, the mechanic discovered that
the original plans to install the radio in the storage
compartment were not possible(due to a steal beam in the
back of the car denying the radio enough space to fit). he
then without contacting the owner, went ahead and modified
the compartment (punched a whole and damaged the area). The
end resulted in the radio being installed wrong, the
compartment area extremely damaged(not fixable) and the
whole process done differently from what was agreed upon.
Also, the mechanic mentioned nothing about taking apart the
screen to install it. He took the liberty to take apart the
tv to make it fit in the desired area. All this was done
without letting the owner be aware of this process. The tv
can now ONLY be used in the area where he installed it. The
tv and radio were provided by the owner of the car and were
property of the owner of the car. There was no right for the
mechanic to modify thet tv to install it. Not only was it
not necessary, but now if the owner ever wanted to take out
the tv and put it somewhere else, he could not because the
mechanic decided on his own to destroy it for the sole
purpose of making his installation easier.

The mechanic should have contacted the owner before any
modifications were made.
