after seeing omar's(dabigticket)i decided to paint my plastics. so a couple of questions about high heat paint
1. is it ok to use 1200 degree paint with 500 degree clear coat?? i cant find 1200 degree clear coat around my area, do they even make them?
2. since i cant find them i decided to buy the 500 deg paint along with 500 deg clear coat would this paint withstand the heat of our engines??

thanks guys thumbsup

no problem thumbsup

Just make sure that you spray your clear coat within the "recoat window" that's marked onthe back of the can. It's usually within 1 hour, or after 48. If you spray any top coats in those 47 hours, you will encounter a problem called "topcoat lift". Basically, your topcoat will re-liquify the underlying coats, which then won't dry again. So, BE SURE you get all of your coats sprayed within an hour of each other, and that you allow about 5 minutes between each coat thumbsup

if you put the proper thickness of ceramic paint on, you shouldn't really need to wet sand it... if you saw the thread i posted yesterday about my Intake, it came out nice and shiny, without any wet sanding. Personally, i would jus tuse testors model enamel on my engine plastics... they don't get hot enough to require 500 degree paint, and you don't have to worry about recoat windows and that crap. Plus, it has a better finish anyway thumbsup

yeah, you're good to go... jsut make sure you wait that 48 before recoating it

And, you can use the high heat paint on the interior too, so that it will match... same rules apply though

Glad to hear it came out nicely...

You should know, though, that without clear cote, the color WILL fade.

hety carbonblue... as requested heres heres a pic of what i have so far this one still has no clear coat i practice on this part since i dont use it because it doesnt fit when my kit is on. it might take a while to finsih the whole engine as i have no time after this week. i was also thinking of going a darker blue but not dark that it looks black at night i need something that matches the aem Intake (blue) or the apr flex bar(blue) do you think the duplicolor high heat blue(DH 1612) would match????

anyways heres my current practice piece
