AEM CAI.. How much louder is it over stock?

I'm thinking/wanting to get the AEM CAI off the ecelica.com store.. but I'm worried over the sound like when I start it up. and at its Idle state in park.

Reason I park my car on the side of our house next to the fence which is next to our neighbors room. If its too loud then they might report us to the city and I won't be able to park there =(

Don't worry, it's not that loud, especially on our little four banger engines. It won't be any louder at idle than your stock box, at least it won't be noticable. When driving, especially at wide open throttle, the thing really comes to life and growls.

The only time your neighbors might hear it is when you shut your car off, it will make a sucking sound. Still not loud enough to be a bother. Tell your neighbors to kiss your ass, because the noise that would resonate from your car with a CAI will be more than legal.

dude, you just haaave to order it sounds great... you cant hear it when idle... just when you take it to 4k and more... but ull love it...

Like everyone else said...idle is not bad at all...can't even notice it...and around 4k it sounds great...but if you had a GTS and hit lift... All I can say is Daaaaaaamn!!

if you have GT, it won't make any much difference in sound, you'll hear more throtty and suction of the air.
But if you have GTS, the sound will be day and night once you hit the lift. It will sound like your car is screaming.
which is very nice, but if you want to hit lift without getting caught for speeding, i suggest not to get Intake

Ahhh Darn I wish I had that GTS...But heck the AEM CAI will hold me over till I get that stick GTS...

don't worry it still sounds good on a GT... just installed mine a few days ago

I can post a vid when I get home of what the aem cai sounds like on a gts.

It's not whiney or high pitched at all, sounds deeper and throttled. Recieved many a compliment on it.

Off topic a bit, but how's the sound of a SRI?

a little louder than the CAI...those focus more on sound than power...

Took me nearly 6 due to the fact that it was the first mod I ever installed, I didn't want to mess anything up, and I double checked everything I did.

I was so paranoid about messing something up. Now I just beat the crap outta my car (in a good way)>
