i finally got around to installing my injen cai and tanabe springs. well, earlier today at about 7 i picked up my car from the shop and man... i think my muffler is hitting against something under my car. i have an 03 gts and i was wondering if anybody has the same set up i do.

i think it's my muffler hitting against the rear strut bar but i'm not sure. i tried to look underneath my car and i'm sure it's not hitting the ground! anyways, it's annoying the hell out of me and this has only been a night of driving. any solutions???

or is this the price i have to pay for better handling.

anybody out there experiencing the same thing that has tanabe 2" drop with an 03 gts with the action package or just an 03 gts?????

Dude I have 03 GTS w/action package. I have similar set up as yours. I have tanabe 2" drop with TRD rear strut bar and TRD exhaust. I have no problem with mine. No muffler hitting anything. I've done all the set up myself. Might want to check all your hangers for your muffler make sure it's not moving around.

or maybe they didnt tighten the bolts on top of the shocks enough, so theyre hitting the chassis when you drive over bumps?

well, i picked up my car during closing hours and they may have been rushing the job. afterwards one of the "mechanics" took it for a test drive and didn't say a word to me... just handed the keys over... i'm pretty sure he knew about the bumping...
so do you guys think i should take it back to the same shop and have them look at it?
or should i take it to another shop.
and... you think if i get a trd strut bar it could possibly fix the problem?

TRD exhaust is extra, they don't come w/the action package. Since you don't have an aftermarket exhaust, there's definetely something wrong with the springs. Like you said, they may have rushed the installation & might have forgotten to tighten something. Definetely take it back to them in the morning & tell them about the noise. Lowering your car has nothing to do w/your exhaust hitting your rear valence, especialy since you still have the stock exhaust system.

what kind of sound is it? it may be that they didn't tighten your endlinks. when i installed my springs, i didn't tighten my own endlinks enough and it sounded like clanking.

yeah... it kinda sounds like clanking... and it's in the rear. which kinda led me to believe it could be the muffler part of the exhaust.

Within a week or two.. you'll hear some knocking sound when you go over a bumper after installing springs..
It's kind of break-in time..
It might be that sound...
There is a piece that fits into the socket in the strut.. I don't know the exact name for this...
After couple of knocks.. it shoouldn't make anymore noise...
I went over the bump couple time.. at about 10mph... it much have poped in and doesn't make anymore noise...
