I recently bought a 00 gts (6spd..of course) with 45k miles on it. The guy I bought it off was in his 40's and told me he had experienced the lift before but did not rev it high usually. He had never replaced the lift bolts, after reading about all the problems people are having with these engine lift bolts I decided it was something I better do. I ordered two new style lift bolts and went to teamcelica.com for directions (very good). After hearing two local dealers tell me they have the TSB info but never heard of the problem I figured they just didn't want to fix my car so I did it myself. My old lift bolts show some wear, just enough that the wear line can catch my fingernail. It only took 35 minutes to do, and I'm glad I did it because now I know they are ok for a while. Have you guys (and girls) ever looked at your old lift bolts? Do you think mine were fine because this guy drove it easy or is it a normal problem? Here's a pic from a camera phone of the old bolts (sorry about the quality). What are everyone's thoughts on the lift bolts? lol thanks wave

good job man, i'm about to replace my lift bolts as well. Did you have to put certain amount of tourque on those the lift bolts when you put the new ones back on? Or you just bascially made sure they are securely tight?

Your lift bolts will wear, regardless of if you hit lift or not. I have a 2000 with 75k miles and the factory bolts, and when I changed mine, it looked as if they could have lasted 100k miles more, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Just make sure that they are secured tightly. Use a socket wrench when installing new ones, not an impact wrench, because not a lot of force is needed to install the new bolts, and an impact wrench could snap the bolts if you torque them down to hard.

U can call that lame if you want Xplod Celica. Dont make a difference. But i just got my car and dont exactly want to have to take it to a shop and get it fixed in the first few months i have it...I kinda wanna get to know my car a little better before i decide to hit lift 10 times a night.

yea, i didnt use a torque wrench nor do i know the specified ft lb torque, i just made sure they were..good.. lol tight but not too tight. i thought my stock bolts could have gone forever. oh well, but slidr is defnitely right, they don't need to be cranked down too hard, they prob crack more often from being over tightened than actual wear... i <3 lift...
