With the current choice of cars, and staying in the same price range ...

I probably would've went with a SRT-4 or RSX-S

OO FD Rx7 is a good one. Friend has one and we're rebuilding it right now. The engine's really easy to fix.

I would have possibly kept the Type-R.

350Z, RX-8, 98 Porsche Boxster or '83 Porsche 911SC.

I'd have either a Mazda 6 or a Eclipse convertable. Those were the two other cars I seriously thought about at the time.

I liked RSX's but a 2002 car would've been expensive for someone my age. I probably would've like a 99 or 2000 Integra.
