I havent gotten my celica yet but im working on in. maybe a few months. i plan on making this car like show room and 1/4 mile car. Ya know like kits, nice paint, sick looking interior, the usual plus make it as fast as possible. My friend can get Performance parts pretty cheap, so i plan on working hte whole engine over.
with that said, does anyone know how quick a celica can go with massive work done? im talking like redo everything in the engine with all Performance pieces. and yes i realize it will take a long time and a lot of money. but this is going to be my project car for the next couple of months, years or however long it takes to do.
"show room" its already a show room car... if you bought it from the dealership, used or new... they may have put it in the show room...
so check that off ur list... unless you mean a show car... such as at HIN or other meets... then it shouldnt be that bad, as long as you can do your own interior work...
^^^ yeah, I'm sure he meant a show car... my advice is to start planning out your mods now, well before you purchase - so you have an idea in your head of what you want it to look like
I already know what i want to do with it. Its just a matter of finding time to do it between 2 jobs and school. and yes i wanna make it a show car. and show it off at shows and stuff.
i dont know if this is true or not. but i heard if ya put a wheelie bar(not sure if thats the right name. its basically a bar that lifts the rearend of the car up to put most of the weight on the front wheels to allow better traction. like how the weight shift on a rwd car puts more force on the drive wheels) you can get quicker 1/4 times. its mainly for track racing not street. and sinc ei havent been to the track in a long time i cant recall seeing one.
Well...if you go naturally aspirated...you might be able to get 13's with weight reduction...though you wont be able to get the PFC (a computer chip) as it does not work with the drive by wire of the '03 - '04 celicas. If you go with a Turbo...you should get mid to low 13's with weight reduction.
If you want to go with an engine swap, your best bet is a 3s-gte engine. Theres on on another site with around 600hp. Now 600hp on a 2500lb car is wow!
The celica, though quick, isnt the quickest car out there. The celica performs well in auto-x racing, and if you want to auto-x I think you should get a GT. Why a GT? Because its power is great down in the lower rpms...where the GTS is great in the higher rpms. In auto-x you dont usually get into the higher rpms that much.
you wont be able to go full show and full go on a celica. unless you dont care how fast it goes in comparison to the $$ you spend.
also my advice is dont buy it new. buy a 2000-2002 model and work from there. since you want to redo so much of it, new or used is of no difference.
N/A you can hit 12's with weight reduction, good driving, and the correct mods. It will cost a lot of $$ though. on an 03 - 04 you'll be stuck in the 13's no matter what.
F/I Turbo with an 03 you will be stuck at mid - low 13's. maybe with nitrous + Turbo you could hit 12's when you learn to drive it. with a non DBW you could see 12's with Turbo and low twelves with Turbo + nitrous. or you could go S/C and run mid 13's.
Dont count on the 3sgte swap cause it's still never been proven to work and be driveable
umm...it depends on the weight and power...you could have a 180hp 4cyl..that runs 8 sec...if its in a shopping cart. Some people have got their STOCK celica GTS to go 14.7 in the quarter.
