harnesses are not street legal...

- I'm also interested in a B-pillar brace but most of the ones I've come across are custom fabs - nothing from any companies...

yeah, it would be a custom fabbed job bor the brace, and the harnesses I'm not sure about...I know that they are legal here in georgia because it counts as a restraining device and that's the way the law reads...not necessarily a lap and chest belt only...read the law on the CA legislature website, you may get away with it on a technicality

I believe 4 point harnesses are not legal because in the event of a roll over were the roof caves in, it will cave in right on top of your head.

If you're wearing a 4 pt harness, your body will not be able to move to the side to avoid the and you'll get a severe if not fatal spinal injury.

Schroth, I believe, carries a street legal 4 pt harness. It is street legal because one point breaks away creating a 3 pt harness in an accident.

I've been pulled over more than once for various reasons in cali. The cops have seen my 4 pt harnesses (passenger and driver seats) and haven't said anything. My roof will not cave in also since I have a full 4130 chrome-moly roll cage. My sparco harness is 10 times safer than any seatbelt, esp. with my full padded roll cage welded by a professional. If I ever get questioned legally my lawyer will use safety as an argument to defend me.
BTW, if your roof caves in with you wearing a seatbelt it won't be pretty if your head can move or not move. It won't be pretty any way you look at it.
If the cops in your area don't care, then that is the law.

If you are worried about rollovers, get a roll cage or at least a roll bar to properly install your harness. Just don't install the shoulder straps to the rear seat bolts like a lot of people do. That's wrong and unsafe.

they usually dont require cages until you hit 11.99 seconds. But they do work well for camera mounts/harnesses thumbsup

unless you're really serious about weight, having the airbag is still a good thing for racing. If it's about the steering wheel, Grant makes aftermaret wheels that fit around your airbag. You can try going to Checkers/Kragen or Autozone and look at their Grant Wheel catalog.
