i have 4 five way pioneers and an amp to go with it..1000watts, and two 12 inch explodes qith the amp to go with it..(explode amp). i also have a capacitor 2.0 i connected both amps to the capacitor but i am not hgappy with the base that much...would it change if i put the capacitor alone with the woofers amp and leave the pioneers and amp with stock alternator...how about using a thicker wire from the capacitor to the battery?? what can i do to make it sound more louder because i feel that as volume goes up the woofers die out more and more...thanx

okay do not put both amps to the capacitor just the sub's amp as that is the one that juices out your battery placing two amps into a capacitor can really limit your power so unless you have a capacitor that can really handle it go ahead but i would just have the subs amp to the capacitor and the capacitor should have to a gauge wire of 1/0 or 4 the least thumbsup thumbsup

Gauge of wire isn't going to make your sound louder or quieter. Lower gauge allows more current to travel through the wire. 4 gauge is what you need. Lower gauge only if system is >1,500 watts. eek

If you want more power, I would upgrade your alternator or get a class d monoblock for your subs. thumbsup

actually ur a bit wrong my friend. like you said a lower gauge allows more current to travel through the wire which in return allows the amplifier to produce a higher output, i know cause i install systems for my friends all the time, but you are right about the 4 gauge is enough for so many watts but when ur talkin about the distance of the amp from the battery you have to use a bigger gauge wire as your goin farther away from the battery to get the same result thumbsup

^^ oh i forgot that higher output statement i made will only work if the amplifier is actually being limited from not having enough current

Sorry, I exagerated. The gauge will affect the output, but i'm talking between 8 gauge and 4 gauge (the standard for most non-competitive systems). The output is going to be close, is what I meant to say. Only really noticeable when cranked. Sorry for not clarifying that. grin

If the distance from the battery to the amp is increased, wouldn't you want a lower gauge wire and not a HIGHER one. Remember, lower gauge allows for more current. Longer wire creates more resistance.

You already knew that, I was just correcting you. tongue

^^ oh okay, i got you grin

oh and thanks for the correction on the gauge size... i forget sometimes that as the wire gets thicker the gauge number gets smaller rolleyes but i knew that happywink
