its good that you pushed ur clutch right wen you miss shifted, our engines are redline tested, but that does not mean you can red line ur car every minute, of course there is ware and tear wen you over rev, but if you in 8k its not that bad just shift fast, also if you wanna hit lift in all gear you have to rev that high anyways, im not telling you to go red line ur car, but wen its race time if you have it there for a few seconds ur fine but if ur in it for a while you mite blow the engine, just careful next time, and just try not to red line ur car if you want for it to last you a longtime

what's interesting is that on the Trial website for the 3zz upgrade, they mention that after the kit which includes pistons, rods, crank, gasket, etc...the engine can hold up to 8000 rpm. I don't know exactly know what they mean by "hold" but it still doesn't sound encouraging to go over 8000 rpm even though the limiter goes up to 8400 rpm except on the 02 GTS.
Maybe "hold" means you can stay at 8000 rpm a little longer than several seconds, and the engine will be less likely to blow on you than before the kit!

I have landed in lift on the 02 GTS 7800 rpm limit, shifting at 7700 rpm, but not consistently. so I'll see what it's like trying to land in lift shifting at 8000 rpm and having that extra margin of the 5800 lift engagement when I upgrade to the 00 GTS ECU. My warranty is up and I can't afford a new engine so I'm more inclined to play it safe as far as going over 8000 rpm. After saving up for the cost of a new engine, I'll go to 8400 rpm with no hesitation. I also might go there, if all you guys start speaking up saying you've been to 8400 rpm many times for several years and never had any problems with your engine. So I'm all ears...

When you guys say "throw the clutch back in" what does that mean? Say that you over rev by accident, what must you do instantly to prevent a bigger problem. Basically, what is the correct reaction?

push the clutch in as soon as humanly possible so the rpms will go back down and you can get it out of the wrong gear asap.

For the Trial kit it increases displacement to 2.0L by increasing stroke. Therefore, the piston will be moving up and down at a much higher speed. The higher the stroke, the lower you would want the your redline to be.

not a bad idea to be safe...but how much lower than 8400 rpm with the Trial?
