Ok this is not cool. I just got back from getting my car inspected and i got the paper telling me what all passed ect. Anyway, as i read it i saw this:
Vehicle weight: 3,445 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought the celica weighed almost 1,000 pounds below that! angry
Has anyone else had this happen?? Sorry but that just pissed me off. The car is used by the way...but i doubt he would put something in my celica that weighed 1,000 pounds lol rolleyes
The only mods i have are:
performance tires, and the TRD action package that may concern weight..That cant possibly weight 1,000 pounds confused

when they measure the car, they only measure where the front wheel, where the engine is.
so with both wheels(front and rear) they would weight more.
it says on your VIN sticker on side of the door.
thats the thing about the new SI. Even though they weight less on the engine side, the whole car weights about a lot more than celica i think

Rest assured, your vehicle does NOT weigh 3,445 pounds. Something is wrong with the measurement.

There's curb weight, and then there's gross vehicle weight. Gross vehicle weight is a lot more accurate- and generally is around 1000 times more than the advertised curb weight (which has like, 0 gas in the tank, etc). Rest assured, your car probably doesn't weigh a full thousand pounds over the curb weight- but it's probably a good 500 pounds more at least.

For instance, the 3000GT VR4 has a curb weight of 3737 and a gross vehicle weight of 4575. Toyota does not advertise their gross vehicle rates- rarely anyone does it cus makes their cars seem heavy and fat.

The weight advertised is AKA a "dry" weight. No antifreeze, break fluid, freon, oil, windshield washer fluid, power steering fluid, tranny fluid, and no gasoline.

read thread before you post it has already been explained why the numbers look different.

if you want a good idea of what your car really wweighs find a truck stop, pay $8-$10 and they give you a print out of what your car weighs. you can do it with or without you in it.

cheaper way to do it is drive to the local dump, get on the scale, read the sign, turn around, and leave.

takes 10 minutes rofl

I was thinking that. Not sure what they use the number for, but it does make sense. Rolling weight including people.
