ok. i have a 2000 celica gts, and i wanted to do some custom stuff to it. One of the things i wanted to install were those street lights that go on the bottom of the car.. im not quite sure what they're called. Ive called around, and some say their elligal, some say thier legal, i even called the sherrifs dep. to clarify, and yet, they were not sure. I dont know, i hope someone can help me out here, i dont really see people with those lighs anymore, so i figure they are illegal. thanks...

Where I come from they are illegal to use on the street. Just for show when parked.

But I drive with mine on & I haven't gotten a ticket yet.

blue and red are "illegal" if used while driving... all colors are basicly grounds for a ticket if used while driving, you can mount them and use them on the street at your own risk, but you can use them as show all you want...

underbody neons or LEDs systems ... depends on what state your in and color of the kit.

Usually they are illegal to drive with on, but when your parked they are fine to use.

I know in Delaware they are legal in some colors to use all the time.

Anything is illegal if the cop says it might cause a distraction to other drivers, and saying underbody neons are would pass in court no problem (and has). So, dont drive with them on and you'll be fine.

But maybe not, California CHP and local police stations claim that any type of interior lights or underbody lights are illegal- EVEN IF THEY ARE TURNED OFF.

I was told to remove my super blue signal lights or the next time the cop saw me I was getting a $120 fine. Don't they have bigger fish to fry? It seems lately in my area with all the little honda kids street racing with their fart mufflers, the cops are starting to get a little pissy with the imports.

How would highway patrol know you have them if they were turned off? Seriously. grin

Well I have a friend that drives a '69 Camaro Z28 and he has blue undercar lights and he was parked in a parking lot and there was a cop that was basically harassing him the whole night because of it...but my friend forgot to turn them off and the cop was sitting up watching his every move and right when my friend put the car into Drive the cop turned his lights on and got him...it's a real shame...damn cops on the eastern shore of MD are a pain in the ass guys, if you are ever over here frown

awwww...how sweet... rofl trying to trick you to leave it on so you get ticketed...and then when you come see him he'll pretend like he doesn't know you...he'd probably get in trouble by his boss. You can if you want, but one thing I know is to NEVER trust cops. They can and will use deception and lies to trap you. His boss won't mind him doing that, trust me.

My friend has lights on his celi but not the big long tubes...he has little LEDs which are hard to find. One time a cop pulled him over and he turned them off, and the cop said he swore he might have seen something but couldn't find any light tube underneath the car!!! lol. So he didn't get a ticket for that. Just 4 other tickets for other illegal stuff hehe including speeding. All tickets are going to his Pre-paid Legal attorney.

Never trust cops. If they say "You have to tell us everything right now...or you'll be charged with obstruction of justice!" That's a lie. You have the right to speak to an attorney first and he/she can talk for you.

One cop wrote down on my ticket that he clocked me at a certain speed when I know I was 10 mph below by the time he clocked. He just lied to make it stick in case I took him to court. Well the ticket became a parking ticket anyway...
While he was busy doing paperwork after he said I could go, I floored it out of there to merge with traffic on the freeway at about 85 mph! grin

NEVER TRUST COPS.

In MD you can legally have underbody colors that are stock on your car, which is white, amber and red. Now who would get a amber kit I don't know. Red is illegal in the fron tubes because of police impersonation. All other colors are fine as long as you tubes are not showing (lol who wnats them to be anyways? cops are smart there), meaning the light must be reflected not directly visible. I don't know if that helps you or not but hey...good luck

if i could drive with them on 24/7 with no hassle going on i would have had them yesterday. there is no way of knowing if a cop will bother you. in new england, crossing statelines into different laws and jurisdictions is all to common. gotta play by everybody's rules, and there is no uniformity in the united states, some states are strict and some are lenient...
