I'm into taking track days at Road Atlanta with my celi (road racing, not drag racing)...I'm getting more serious about it each track day they have...I was thinking about dumping some money into some handling mods, (it handles fine already, but with this stuff, my times would improve, so eh...why not, right? grin)...this is what I was thinking, you guys tell me: RMM Front Strut Tower Bar, Koni front struts, Cusco front lower tie bar, Tanabe Rear Lower Tie Bar, TRD rear Strut Tower Brace (triangular), Koni Rear Shocks...and that should tie it together pretty well don't you think??? cool...I'll probably buy it all at once, and bolt it up over a 3-day weekend or something, and it will probably run like $1,100 or so, which isn't to bad considering how well its supposed to work with the car...please post your experience with whatever parts you have out of that stuff...both good and bad...and thanks to all who reply thumbsup

how about a power mod? Blitz Supercharger...I know people have flamed it but it could be good for road racing with a lot of low end needed from the get go. Get in position and block 'em off!

what about your drop? I noticed in your profile you want skunk2 coilovers...and I did too until too many people I talked to said it gave a harsh ride, and that it bounced. They said ground control was better but then I think I couldn't get the GC for some reason, so I just went with Eibach Sportlines. Are those Koni you're thinking about adjustable?

I have an 03 GT with 11:1 internals (had to go .0020" over because that's all Wiseco sells for our cars), CAI and Exhaust for motor stuff...I'm getting ready to get a TRD clutch and fidanza flywheel put on, and later this year, I'm gonna have the head ported and polished and have an Apexi PFC tuned to my car (all motor baby!!)...I do fine on the track days...on Saturdays they reserve the day for first timers, and cars that aren't as powerful (not Viper ACR's, or Ferrari's)...I've seen some mustang mach 1's, a couple of Boxers, I've seen a mini cooper, a few NSX's, some z06's, a couple of viper GTS's (late 90's), and even saw a Lotus 340R my first time out...that kinda thing. its wild cause they pull on me in the straights, but I catch up and have better times through turns 2,3,4,and 5 (the esses)particularly...the average speed is right around 100 mph..Last time I was out there I hit 129 on the back straight...its awesome cause you can really open up and push your car, and while you are allowed to pass on staights, they regulate things, and if you are running people over (FUCKING ferrari 360 challenges!!!)) then they tell you to come back for sunday, where you have to be experienced because the average speed is around 120mpg, and some guys get to around 155 on the back straight(I'm too afraid to go on Sunday cry)...I'm trying to get someone to go and get video for me next time I go...I know one of the oficials, and they'll let anyone brave enough to ride with me, go for free as long as they have a helmet, and they are brave enough...oh yeah...and you have to be at the track at 6:30 a.m. thumbsdown: I'll probably go in December, cause my tires I use for that (Bridgestone Y-rated) are getting worn, and I refuse to drive like that unless I have perfect tires

Why not get a full suspension kit?? I Know Hotckis make two different levels, or TRD Sportivo... I would love to do all the suspension!! Very jealous that you are going to do all that... Do you already have comp tires though? As those will make the biggest difference for handling.

that's right about the tires...IMO Toyo Proxes RA-1's are best for road racing.

Sounds like you already have the engine part covered. Why not get some good coilovers? You would be better off. Top that with Hotchkis comp. anti-roll bars, adjustable end links (front & rear), and chasis reinforcement like you said + or - some. I can't believe your not going with a lsd if getting the clutch and flywheel replaced anyway. Sure the lsd and install costs a lot more, but if your serious and it sounds like you are, you need the lsd. Of course good and real good tires are very important like stated before on light weight wheels. Don't forget the alignment either on that suspension. Blowing that engine due to oil starvation would be a shame, so look into things to keep the oil flowing and cool. Don't forget about the brakes either. Throw the already good stock ones out and do a conversion to the rears with at least better rotors and pads all around. Everything you want to know could and should go in separate threads. There's just too much there to give a good explaination about.

Hephaestus: As for oil Starvation...I've only heard of oil starvation being a problem on The GTS...although I'm thinking about an oil cooler. Also, the week before I go out, I make sure that my brakes are replaced, fresh and new ( I got the hook up for that tongue), my car is totally aligned, and I have fresh oil in the car thumbsup...and yes, I'm thinking about the clutch and flywheel, but I don't want the LSD...that's about $1,500 with parts and labor that I just don't feel like...now if I ever got to the point where I, for some reason, could run the track more often, then that would be a different story...but so far I've taken 3 track days in the celi, and never had a problem with traction thumbsup thumbsup...plus its not a flat road racing course...its got hills!!!! tasty tasty

That and they spend half the morning going over the course with you, and talk about different braking and acceleration paths, and tons of other stuff...its tons of fun!!!

buy a separate set of tires(and lightweight 17 inch wheels) and get some yokohamma ao32 or the other racing spec tire they make.

all the suspention mods you listed wont add more than .02g's to your handling capability.

while racing tires can add up to .1-.2 depending on how tacky the compound is.

Tires are the most effective way to improve your cars overall handling / cornering ability, aside from the driver.

I have 17" BBS RXII's eek eek that I use for my track days...and the potenza's have been pretty good thumbsup thumbsup...and I have been eyeballing the yokohamas, and may end up with them before the next track day...I may just lower the car on some ground control coilovers and be done with it, if spending around a grand on all that stuff won't really help all that much. the last time I was there they suggested I get a roll cage, and that it might help to tie it all together...I know that I could get a decent cage put in for around $1,000, but I don't want to have trouble getting in and out of the car, being as its my daily driver.

funniest part about the whole thing is that all the miles I put on my car are nearly 95% interstate miles...so I cruise at between 75 and 90 all the time...which is a hell of a lot better than sitting in traffic and letting heat annihilate my engine...either way I do pretty well when I take track days, and would just like to tie the suspension together a little better, and get some more handling (can never have enough)
