So I wanna keep the stock head unit in my 03 GT.. can i get some better speakers for it without replacing the head unit? I don't want something totally crazy... I'm also on sorta a budget so I can't afford a pair of $500 car speakers... I just want something to go in stock locations no setup in the back or anything

OO...also interested in this in the future.

Really want to replace the 2x side speakers on the rear because they get the most play. How much are they?

side speakers r cheap. our celica's have 6.5 in the 2 doors and in the backs. but the speakers in the doors i didnt replace because theyre pretty good speakers for stock, i just bought 2 extra 6x9 and put them in the back hatch "area", and disconnected the 2 side speakers in the back because they would cancel out.

NOOOOOOO, don't do that!

The speakers in the Celi are awesome. They are crystal and and loud. They take a hell of a pounding. Its the stock stereo that sucks! Even the panasonic in the TRD sucked bad.

Most MB quartz are REALLY expensive, I don't know where you've seen cheap ones. The cheapest MB quartz i've seen are $999/pair for components. Amps=more power=more headroom=better sound. And they're louder! (headbanging smilie here)

Expect to pay around $100 for a pair. More or less depending on the brand.

Just get an aftermarket headunit it will make you stock speakers sound so much better. Stock headunit with aftermarket speakers is not a good idea especiall if you dont have an amp.

You've never heard the JL XR's lol but yea get a headunit before you get speakers. The stock speakers arent to bad but the headunit is restricting them from their full capabilities.

i replaced the front two 6.5 and the tweeters. the component set comes with 2 6.5 and 2 tweeters. btw all the kicker components i have were fit inside my door with 0 modification to the doors. i just took the grills off the speakers. i did however keep the stock JBL 6.5 in the rear. i personally didnt want to put out the money for another set of components and have to find a place for the tweeters that come in the kit, so i kept the stock ones, they sound great with the kicker components. what makes these components and any other components good is if it says component on the box that means it prob comes with 2 6.5 and 2 tweeters and 2 crossovers. if you get just 6.5 and tweeters then it really wont sound as good as it would with the crossovers.

i've the JBL upgrades, they suck. the stock GT probably comes with fujistu, made of paper, which sucks even more. i would go with rockford X or Q series...

My GT came with the stock JBL. I highpass them at 200HZ & they are loud and clear. The speekers are not the issue, the stock deck is. After you have replaced the deck, I would suggest infiniti midbass drivers and tweeters.

Rockford thumbsdown
