OK so my friend has a fuckass(focus) and we were wondering which handles better, the Celica or the Focus?

OOOOO HELLL NOOOO!!!!

Tell your friend that he is very much WRONG.

I used to drive a Celica GT right, then I drove an 01 Focus ZX3 which I sold. And now I drive a GTS.

So I have driven both type of Celicas, auto and manual, and that janky Focus.

I can say that the Focus is super weak in handling. When I switch lanes and I drive over those bumps, the steering wheel would jerk around as if the car is losing control. So yeah, super whacked out IMO. O, and do not get me started with the sh*tty recall that the Focus is known for...including the neverending check engine light problem...

If it was soooo good, I would keep the Focus and not purchase the GTS.

The SVT focus handles pretty good, infact they are one of the top competitor in autox. But in the testing, celicas handle a lot better than focus svt. But not by too much.

So wait, what kind of a Focus does he have?

Even with the SVT...Celica still outperforms.

But telling him that Celicas are better is like him telling us that the Focus is better.

So the next time he says something like that, just smile and know who is BSing.

seriously, domestics are only good at straights and high HP numbers. they're just not made for handling, its only made for some ppl who wanna do the ricer fly by on the freeway, and then brake like crazy when it comes to a turn. they dont even have good braking i think

Not ALL of them. Just 98% of them. I'd still take a 'vette over any import.

I THINK EVERYONES FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE FOCUS RS.

PUT IT LIKE THIS, THE FLAGSHIP FOCUS OUTHANDLES THE FLAGSHIP CELICA.

Ultra stiff suspension and that quaife torque biasing differential thingy ensure the Focus has the firm advantage around the track. Not to mention straight line Performance. A whopping Turbo and 212bhp gives the Focus a blistering 5.9 0-60mph and 14 0-100mph.

The handling of the Focus is more on par with the Impreza WRX. Sorry to spoil the party but some people on here don't have very much knowledge outside of their Celicas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly, Consumer Reports rated that the handling and overall ride of the Focus was too bumpy and stiff. Thats part of the reason why I bought a Celica. And the fact that its sleeker. thumbsup

Did we say handling or cornering? Overall handling, Celica still beats the Focus.

Veilside, we're talking handling, not Performance. That's great but I don't care about Turbos.

What kind of question is this? Is this serious? A Celica will out handle any stock focus. The only one that will come close is the SVT. I raced a stock ZX3. That's a long story, but it ended eventually on a twisty winding road. I hit lift in third and was gone 100+MPH for miles. That piece of crap was way back as soon as I shifted to 4th. And I mean at least a mile back at the end. Didn't stand a chance and that idiot deserved the ass kicking. Don't try that at home kids.

But still, you can't even get the RS here. I have heard that they are trying to get it here for the next line-up or something like that. Not too sure, I was really into the Focus scene when I had my ZX3, but man, that car was a POS.

Also, there are tons of problems with the car. What can you do with an ass kicking specs if it creates problem at about 1K miles.

Exactly. You can't start comparing modded versions of cars that aren't even on dealers lots. If that's what we're doing, lets toss in the Hotchkis Celica spineyes

UK or not its still a stock Focus from the factroy.

And test after test it beats the Celica around a track. I know its sad to hear but its true. Toyota need to pull up their socks and come up with a Celica model that competes with the 350Z, RX8 and Audi TT 3.2

The GTS already beats the RX8 in every Performance catagory.

I'm hopeful that Toyota will eventually enter the performace sports car market again... but it's not going to be with the Celica. And it couldn't have been with ours anyway. We already have the handling to run with any other sport coupe, but just not the power... and have you seen our engine bays? How are they going to fit a I-6 in there? The GTS truly is a sport compact car, NOT a performace car. I'm not saying that's a bad thing... but we have to take it for what it is.

But the whole point of this thread is comparing his friend's stock POS Focus with his Celica. We are not even comparing RS versus GTS. That is like throwing in a Supra just because before it was called a Celica Supra.

Wish we did beat the RX8 on Performance. HA HA HA!

The GTS is 50bhp down and has FWD compared to the mazdas RWD. The lap times show what an advantage the RX8 has over the Celica.

Granted though, his friends piece of shit ST170 or 2.0 Zetec or whatever it is is no match for the T Sport.

Actually I retract my previous statement (slighty). I just checked some lap times and the RX8 is actually not that much quicker than the Celica. I suppose 40/50 bhp is not such an advantage when you carry more weight and suffer with the same lack of low end grunt.
