Hey everyone i was jus wondering for you people with 2000 and up gts' if it is normal to have to keep the revs up high like around 2500 to 3000 rpm to keep the car from shuddering, is it from the low torque?

thnks

Somewhat. My 2000 GTS will go fine when I have the gas pedal pressed going from 1st to 2nd, but if I just lightly let go of it when I am on 1st or 2nd and the RPM goes down near 2K or so, the rides does feel really rough. Not too sure if other cars does that because this is my first stick shift car.

remember that your GTS engine is only a 1.8 liter running the revs low period can cause detonation. I usually try not to rev to high when taking off, but when i am driving normal i shift at 4000 to 4500 rpm belive it or not but that is easy on the engine.

So it is always good for the engine to shift at 3K?

i shift at 3k - 3500...it's smooth and no "jerk"
4k also is good

i just hate it when on the stop sign, unlike autos, i have to downshift to 1st if i want to take off smoothly/quickly

if i sta on 2nd and do an american stop, the car takes a while to climb the rpm, and i think it's bad for the engine. so does going to 1st while the car is still moving (slowly to a stop that is)

then again, i also rev match sometimes
