my car is @ 88K miles..i know for a toyota that's not very much on the long run and i do maintain it pretty well..but i have plans for an sf Turbo kit..by the time i can get my hands on one i'll be well over 100K miles..and i'm sure that's not a good time to Turbo it..so i'm thinkin the cheapest way is to rebuild my 1z w/ stock oem parts...i want to now what exactly is done to ur engine when it gets rebuilt...what specifically do they replace? because if it's possible to upgrade those same oem internals(required for a rebuild) w/ Performance ones, then i might do that instead...i know i can just take it to an engine shop n get answers...but it's summertime, the heat makes me lazy to do anything, n they prolly don't even know our cars as good as we do.

all responses will be appreciated.

If your going to rebuild rebuild with MWR internals. Makes no sense to rebuild on oem.

just to be sure, send mwr an email explaining your situation... they are more than helpful and should give you a complete list of items you'll need

^^well i took ur advice n i spoke to "matt" from mwr..this is how it went with a few exchanged emails.

ME: hello, i drive a 2001 toyota celica GT (1zz-fe) with over 90K miles on it. i plan to get a Turbo kit by "stafford fabrications". i know it's fatal to install a Turbo for my engine, especially with that many miles on it. and i want to ask you what is best on your product line for my engine? i am highly interested in your big bore kit with the 8:8:1 pistons, and your stainless valves and valve springs. will those be all i need to help my engine withstand the pressure of a Turbo kit? or do you recommend a full engine rebuild to make it good as new? thank you for reading this email.

MATT: With pistons, rods, valves, and springs your engine will take the boost very well and will hold up to a higher rev limiter very well if you chose to install a power FC. With a proper fuel system you should be able to run 12-15psi. I'd also recommend the ARP stud kits, especially for the cylinder head.

ME: oh, i plan to stay at 6-8 psi for daily driving. would i still need the additional connecting rods and stud kit?

MATT: For 6-8psi, no.

well how's that sound guys? from that convo, my list for parts before a Turbo kit is just: big bore kit with 8:8:1 compression pistons, valves, and valve springs... am i missing anything? i just need more opinions just to make sure things are right.

sounds good dude...have it rebuilt, and all the small parts (valve seals, retainers, gaskets, blah blah blah) your sho plan get from toyota for cheap...if you plan on going Turbo, and even staying at low psi like that, then with the MWR internals you should still have a very reliable engine
