Anybody out there have an Invader style Carbon Fiber hood?

I'm thinking about getting one, but I'm wondering if there are any problems with rain getting into the engine bay from the top vent hole?

This is a concern given the fact that I live in Oregon and in about a month or so this place is going to change back to water world again (lots of rain).

Also where's a good place to buy them online?

Thanks for that info, youve had yours on for awhile yes?

I'm guessing that when the rain goes through it hasn't landed on anything vital or shorted anything electrical out? Or caused any kind of problems?

Have had it on for 4-5 months
havent had any problems but in that
my car is not a dailt driver.
but if you have a CIA
I will def. recomend not
driving in the rain. If
anything you can put a peice of
plastic and block off the vent.

ive had my invader for 2+ years... paid about $468 shipped in a GB.

i live in florida and during the summer time it gets a little wet(daily afternoon thunderstorms)... id be more concerned with water building up by the reverse scoop(haha, i hate water spots). not a lot of water goes into the reverse scoop, unless you do your daily driving in reverse!! youll probably get more water into the raised scoop. either way, not too big of a deal.

i also have a CAI, id be more worried about water coming up through the bottom of the engine bay rather than the reverse scoop.

so you should get it, awesome mod!! thumbsup

I have it as well. I also have an Injen short ram Intake, so I was initially concerned about water falling right through the grill onto my filter...which it does when it rains and I haven't had any problems but if my car was just sitting outside at work and I knew it was going to rain I would cover that vent with something. I just got my Injen heatshield last week so it's not even an issue now. Y'all have seen my enginebay, it can't mess things up too much if a little wipe with a cloth makes it look this good thumbsup

Many thanks to all, that was great info wave

The Invader style carbon fiber hoods really caught my attention because they look like a good mix of form and function.

Like they would really help with all cooling and fighting heat soak and look bad ass doing it. thumbsup

A little off topic here, but any word on if that C-One hood is going to make its way over here from Japan? I love that hood, but 800 bucks plus shipping is just in-frickin-sane.

brings up a good point. think the invader hood cools the engine any more than a stock hood?

i would think it allows a little bit of heat to escape, but think about it, when youre driving the heat comes out of the reverse scoop... and where does it go? --right into the raised scoop. spineyes

^^ not necessarily.

the invader hood acts as both a vacuum and a ram air (due to its two scoops which face opposite directions.

here's a short walkthrough:

the ram air scoop (stock location) forces air into the engine bay as you are driving. this air is presumably colder than the air inside of the engine.

thats when the invaders scoop comes in. this scoop acts exactly like a vacuum and 'sucks' air out of the engine bay...air that has now become hot due to the heat of the engine.

yes, i would definately assume that some of this exiting air gets caught again by the ram air scoop, but most of the air entering will be colder thumbsup
