Okay getting new car in December (well not new, but new for me) I was looking at a large list of cars, its really down to just a few at this point! Here they are in no particular order:
1. 99 Eclipse GSX
2. 00 Celica GT
3. 02 Impreza RS
4. 00 Prelude

I have a few important questions about the celica...
First is the GT is the best for Turbo charging right? Im not sure why but this is what I have heard, so I guess Im looking for people to back this up and maybe explain to me why this is so. Second question is how reliable is a celica in general? Im still in school and cant afford to have my car in the shop every month (well for non Performance things that is). Third is Im looking to own this car for awhile and would like to make some sick HP I dont know how expensive around 300 at the crank would be so ether knock some sence into me or tell me the right parts to do it with. Okay well I guess thats it for now. Thanks for your time guys!

Turbo charging is not for a daily driver unless you are going to do it way underspec.

rolleyes ok tell that to all the Turbo celica owners out there... You can have a celica GT with a Turbo running comfortably at 10 psi pushing about 250 WHP wich is more than enough for a front wheel drive car and still have an excellent and reliable daily driver. If you have the knowledge you should go for a custom setup for the Turbo and save up some good $$$... that's my current plan for my GT thumbsup

Putting 250 down in a 7th gen engine only designed to do 120 is definately a reliability problem. I'd like to see how many miles these people get out of an engine.

So will a Turbo work best with a GT? If thats the case I can save a lot of money by buying the GT, or I could just get a newer also!

The only guy I know with a GT Turbo'd blew his motor. Instead of replacing it, he's doing a 2ZZ swap & ditching the Turbo. So ...

Buy a GTS if you want more power. Its reliable, safe horsepower. And Turbo will cost you more that the extra for a GTS anyway. With the GTS you get all kinds of goodies, not just a better motor & tranny.

With the GTS you get a 6spd and better engine. What else do you get with it?

actually I prefer the GT engine for the Turbo route but to each his own and I'm not about to start a rant with that other guy... to the previous remarks well if you don't know your car and how it really works then a Turbo is not for you...and BTW my engine will last as much if not more than your NA engine... forced induction won't fuk you up if you plan ahead and know what you are phisically doing to the car.

p.s. for less than $3000 for a T setup he can kill your gts any day of the week

this guy lives around my house here and is running his gts driven DAILY at only 5 PSI!!! and he's currently at 236 WHP with no other major mods...forced induction is real fool...

his setup:
Turbo Performance Header
Garret T3/T4 B .60 trim with .48 A/R
Turbonetics Evolution Wastegate
Precision by Garrett Intercooler
Split Second AIC
5 PSI

^^ If that's true...236 whp at 5psi...that's a damn good setup!!! What does it run in the quarter if he's brought it there yet?

So it doesnt really matter if its on a GTS or GT? I want a Turbo that I know. I just want to go about it the right way and not mess up my engine. I know running at a safe PSI is the first and best step to keeping the engine alive.

My setup should be done by christmas
time where ill have money to do my piping
which is the only thing on hold
there quoting me 450 for my manifold and 400
for my piping to my intercooler and back and
my down pipe. I pretty much have everything else
just laying around.

dang that's a lot to charge for piping...if you know the design have someone do mandrel bends and then ceramic coat your piping. Pay them by the hour. That sounds a bit too much.

yea well in miami theres only
a couple of places that fabricate
custom manifolds 2 to be exact
and the piping i think was high
too but looking at how tight our engine
bay room is i figured it was not bad.
