Well i would like to get some interior parts of my car painted. I'm wounding if i would be able to paint of the parts that this person has painted blue. I would like to paint mine silver to match the exterior and i wanna paint everything this person has blue exluding the vents. Also what products should i use to paint/clear coat. How long do you think it will take to complete the whole project and how much cash am i gonna have to fork out? I know i can paint the center dash and the piece behind the steering wheel, but what about all the other parts painted in this picture? Do you think it will look good?

You can paint all of the other parts. It will take you a week or longer, depending on how fast you work, and how much prep work you do. Shouldn't cost you that much either.

Good thing is that you can take all of those pieces out of the car with little or no hassle, and can leave them out for however long it take you to get the job done.

Well, first you need to sand it and prep it...a lot. That gives the paint/primer a good rough surface to stick to.

After sanding it and cleaning it, you need to use a primer. Spray a few coats of that on, sand it down, and then use your color coat. Then you will have to sand a lot (including wet sanding) and apply many more coats.

Then, steel wool the final color coat, and then clear coat it.

You want a plastic paint, but on my plastics, I just used any old rattle can.

There should be a paint guide in the install section that will explain it a lot better than me.

And no, if you do it right, the paint shouldn't chip off.

99% of paint work is prepping.

Just unscrew any screws that appear to be holding it on, and pry a little. You should see how it comes off.

You may need to take off the center console (the part behind the shifter that opens up, and also includes the cup holders) to get things started, because more screws for other parts may lie in there. Not sure, I'd have to look in my car to find out, but for some pieces, there are screws holding on other pieces under them.

you don't have to take the whole dash of to get to the glove box

by the passenger door there is a panel by the feet that has ONE screw holding it in, unscrew it and then pop off that piece of plastic, then you'll see the screws for the glovebox. thumbsup

you'll need a light grit sand paper, some primer, some clear coat and the color of choice in painting the interior. personally i just went to the dealership and bought a gallon of paint to match my car, and airbrushed it onto my pieces so it looks EXACTLY like my exterior, it looks beautiful. also if you need some AC decals, Talk to Unsung from TeamCelica.com, this way you don't lose all functionality.
Unsung's Decals are really cheap, and I belive he also shoots you two pairs for the price too.

Personally I dont like the idea of painting parts in the interior of my car. I would suggest maybe a nice dress up dash kit! You can chose among various colors, and some even come custom. Like mine in my profile. The flip up console has the toyota emblem on it. It may not be as versitile as painting any part you want, but I'd rather have that and not worry about paint chips or scratches that later on make your ride look horrible! thumbsdown

I guess if you're up to maintain it all the time it can work out for you though thumbsup

If your interested in looking at some dash kits check out this site where I got mine... www.torasport.com [torasport.com]

on my dash, i used duplicolor flat black dye from walmart for the majority of the dash and SEM silver metallic for the accents.

SEM: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/yourautotrim-store/silvermetallic.html --it can be bought at some autobody shops, but its about the same price. thumbsup
