Jsut got home from work, got my car jacked uip and rdy for an oil change... should I let the engine cool all the way down b4 I drain it?

i dont think that matters because whenever i take it in they just drain it without waiting for the car to cool down.

Caution! If engine is hot, oil is hotter! depending on your equipment for changing the oil, you might want to wait an hour or so (unless...it's TOOOOO LATE!!)

I let it sit for 30min. I had jsut drove like 40 miles so it was a lil hot still. but came right out smile That shit was way over due. frown She feels smoother now with some fresh oil grin

you could've burned your arms or body if you didnt let the engine cool down for at least 30 mins.

you dont wanna take that risk. thumbsup

Yeah, I would let it sit anyway. Engine parts get hot too, especially undercarriage. I heard if you mess with anything while engine is hot, metal warpage can occur. Probably just with the engine, but nonetheless...

I opened that puppy up as soon as i was home from work, put on some surgeons gloves and went to work at it. The oil was hot, but i didn't feel it with the gloves on.

jack it up, open the hood and undo the underbody plastics, your good.

Don't worry about letting your car run after you put the new oil in it, as soon as the engine is turned over, oil has already saturated the engine head and all parts.

Well it sit for about 30min.. it was 80deg here, I had driven like 40 miles.. and the 30min wasnt enough waiting 1-2 hours next time. grin
