i bought a trd big brake kit with the calipers and everything and i was going to have it profesonaly installed well i went to pic it up and they showed me that the caliper was too big and wouldnt let the wheel spin freely i have 18" rimms and i made them put on every rim in the store and non of them gave good clearance. a friend told me to shave them but i dont want to any other ideas

does he mean clearance of the caliper. because the cailper is larger and on some rims it hits the spokes. not sure that is the problem

The wheels have the wrong offset.

You will need to get new ones before you can accomadate the brakes.

He's right but if the wheel is just barely hitting your caliper you can get a 5x100 wheel spacer. If you just need a couple millimeters of clearance to fit the rim a thin spacer will work without changing the studs. I don't recommend getting anything wider then 1 inch or your tires will stick out then you will need to go widebody. I use a 5mil spacer works great studs did not have to be replaced.

If you haven't bought rims and are planning to buy new rims get rims with the correct offset or go custom on the offset so they have clearance between the caliper and the rim.
