I was wondering if the AEM Big Break Kit includes front and rear rotors and calipers, and if so, can it replace the factory rear drum brakes on my GT. Thanks

The AEM big brake kit is only for the front rotors. It does not include the calipers, I'm pretty sure (99%) that it is just a bigger rotor. SSBC makes a Rear Disk Conversion kit for the GT. The website is www.ssbrakes.com [ssbrakes.com] .

My car is gunna be 10x faster than yours...haha... I'm gunna buy like 10
of those speedchips! I figure if 1 gets me 20hp then 10 will get me 200hp!

yeah, but if you get it from toyota, you need the extra lines and what not too, plus a GTS rear axle housing because the GT's axle housing is bigger than the GTs's...I'd just go with the SS kit

Its $740 for the equipment for the conversion...can't beat that...and they powdercoat the calipers to match your car

as has been posted earlier, AEM does not include a new caliper in their bbk - simply a relocation kit for the stock caliper

...also, SSBC is the easiest way to go for a rear-disc conversion however the rear brakes only account for approximately 10% of the stopping power so it's not worth it for some - idunno

hey sultan just wondering where you got the 10% stuff from. I talked to the guys at SSBC and I was just going to do the rear conversion for now and he strongly discouraged it b/c the rear would then grab a lot harder than the front. He recommended changing the fronts first then the rears. I don't know if it was just a sales pitch..?? who knows.

rear with the disc conversion would simply be comparable to the stock front unless you put a bbk on as well - so I'm calling bs on those guys...

SSB told me the same thing, since the rear disc conv uses 12" rotors, they're 1.5" larger than the stock front rotors and they use stronger rear caliper than the one used on the GTS, so the rear would grip just as much as the front. but you gotta admit that atleast the company is honest enough to tell you this. they could have just told you "yeah, you can install the rear w/o the front" and once you got it installed you realized that your braking balance is off.

whoa - that makes it an expensive proposition... a rear disc conversion basically would require you to get a front bbk as well - eek
