For those of you who have purchased a Greddy Evo II cat-back and are not happy with the sound, REMOVE the mid-muffler/canister. I recently went to a custom exhaust shop and had a piece of aluminized pipe bent to fill the void. No one in my area had the capabilities to bend stainless. Don't worry about it being to loud or ricey. The sound is deep and is tastefully loud. I have driven past serval cops and not one have bat an eyelash. So for those of you who like the Performance figures and look of the Greddy Evo II, but are not happy with the sound, this mod is a must. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me.

Removing the whole Muffler?

How much did that run you?

I have an Evo II myself.. would liek to find something to make it louder, but still wanna keep it Passable.. but I could always put the Muffler back in when I go for SMOG/Inspection smile

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and the exhaust set-up I have is passiable because the canister that leads into the tip is considered a muffler and exists out the rear of the car. The cat is still there and from knowledge that is where all your emissions/smog etc...goes through and is eliminated. It ran about $80. I will get pics up this week. I am not sure if i can figure out the technology for a sound clip. But I assure, you won't be disappointed. I first the EVO exhaust because I was worried about it being to loud. Once I put it on it was no louder than stock, it just sounded better. After I did the mod, it is a perfect blend of sound and tone. It does not sound cheap. The sound will draw attention, but not negative attention.

I did that mod on my Greddy Evo a few months ago and it ran me $40. If you look underneath your car you can see that there is more than just the canister you see with the Greddy emblem on it. You can't miss it, it's right in front of your suspension. The sound is awesome, I would say just perfect.

Blonde question:

The greddy evo exhaust came in 2 parts, right? the 4" tip part and then the squarish oval part which is the muffler...right?

so taking the muffler out and running a pipe straight to the tailpipe doesnt effect the cars Performance or emissions test confused

Yes the exhaust came in two parts. The piece that sits in front of the rear suspension is the piece I removed. I did not notice any change in Performance. Just sound. As far as emissions you should still be cool because you don't mess with the cat and the rear canister that forms into the tip is a muffler too. The place I had the work done is a Pennsylvania State Inspection Center/Certified and they performed the work.

Ax the piece closest to the shoes...
My main concern when I bought the exhaust was how loud it was going to be. When I installed it, the exhaust was to quite. After I did the mod, I am extremely happy with the sound. It wasn't that much money to do. Worst case you spent $80 or so...

nomatter what exhaust you go with you can always have the resenator removed and a piece of pipe welded in. i wouldnt worry about the cat since its already as free flowing as you can get. i had a custom exhaust on my car for a while that had no muffler, it just had the canister and it was pretty loud however i didnt mind it, i eventualy had it removed and bought the evo because i had a backpreasure problem

Took my friend about 2 hours to make it, he is relativly inexpierenced with the mandril bender, and we had to custom fab a 3" flange, so if they had a flange on hand and he had more exp would have been shorter.

But got it done for a 12pack of Bud Light.. so pipe set me back <20$

guys I just got this mod done today and when i fired her up...a huge smile hit my face. smile sound is awesome. loud. deep full sound like that eclipse in the first fast and the furious. the mod took about 1.5 hours, cost 31.95, the only thing is that my tip sits a lil lower now. about 1 inch lower which doesnt bother me. the sound is sweet. all you evo owners , this is a must.

Hey guys, i did love this mod the first day i got it done, but now it turns out that its buggin the fuck outta me because its loud. im not saying that its really loud as it kazuma loud , what im saying is that im not the type( as i just found out) of person that likes the loud exhaust. so what i did was put the evo resonator back on. so heres the bottom line, if you like loud, get it done, if you like quiet, keep it the way it is.
