Ok, I've already painted my dash once about three months ago and decided I could do a better job plus I wanted a new color. Now, I'm thinning all my old paint out so I can start over but I takes forever. I was wondering if I could put a base coat of primer over the old paint and not worry about thinning all the old paint. THen I could just start over. Any suggestions? thank in advance

it depends what kind of paint you used the first time...if it has enamel in it than it won't stick that well...take your time and be patient so it will turn out good!!

you happy boy?

you must strip it with mineral spirits, then sand and start all over. DO NOT paint over it will be to thick and could crack or chip.

yes it would be too thick and probably wouldn't look as smooth as it would...must take it off.

I decided to just be relentless and so far I've spent about three hours stripping the paint off the center console. A little word of advice: when you decide to paint your dash make sure it's the color you definately want and that you do a very good job. Thanks for all the feed back thumbsup
