I have about close to 50k on mines and its running good because i do all my own maintainence on time. Maintainence is the key to a cars realibility, its that and not getting into serious accidents. thumbsup

this might be off subject, but i feel toyota is like sega. they will come out with a great product. however, they won't support it and finally ditch it all together. of course, i'm referring to celica...

^^^LOL~

anyways, the engine should last more than 7 years with proper maintnence.

and the only thing you will have to fix is the lift-bolt.

toyota make reliability-awsome engines.

Just sold my 92 GTS with 174k miles. Got blue book private party value, which is quite fair for a 12 yr old car, which has years left if maintained properly. Prior GTS was traded with 212K, so these babies historically hold up with proper maintenance! My 02 should last me through 2012 at this rate! BOOOOYAA

if you drive your car normally and take care of it the way Toyota recommends (also found in the owner's manual), you shouldn't have any major problems with your car.

but if you drive the hell out of it and don't follow a regular maintenance schedule - then YES, YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS.

The Celica has been around for the past 30 years - I agree that it was time for Toyota to move on. They have something better in the wings thumbsup

It could be worse... you could be driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse or even a Saturn - how often do you see one of them on the roads compared to the the number of older Honda & Toyota happywink

I had a Saturn with 175K on it and still going strong when I sold it and got my Celica. Yes, even Saturns do well if you maintain them.

Inherently reving any engine 7000 or more RPM is going to cause problems. If you nailing lift all the time & reving to the redline; your car isn't going to last all that long. However, with Toyota you can beat the crap out of them & still get a lot of mileage. But if your careful, you will get a lot more.

Hey, I had a saturn before my celica, and it was a great car. I NEVER had a single problem with it--I can't say the same about my celica that's 5 years newer and has 100000 miles less than the saturn.

Sometimes its luck of the draw as well. Jim, a guy I know bought a 1st year Saturn. He had cylinders replaced, transmission problems, windshield wiper linkage broke, alignment problems, frame flex - leaky windshield. Its was a complete lemon & all that before 20,000 miles. He traded it in on a Mercury Mystique & his ford hasn't given him a problem yet! rofl
