Might be very slightly louder, but you'll only gain like 1whp max. We already have pretty high flow cats stock.

you can beat the shit out of it and it'll come out when you drive or cut it off and take a screw driver and chisel that stuff out. Be creative

And then you will get cancer because all of the stuff that gets caught in it is carcinogenic.

Leave it alone.

Don't gut your cat, its worth too much money. Just replace it with a cheater pipe. I did that on almost all my V8's & it made a huge difference. thumbsup

V8s suck a lot more air and therefore have a lot more exhaust than your Celica motor.

True, but why is everyone doing CAI, headers, cat back systems, trd exhaust?

I have been told by a couple of experts that the catalytic converter is by far the worst bottleneck in the system. But yah, I agree, the size of the stock pipes & intake in a Celi would be good for a motor twice the size. Stock highflow. thumbsup

A cat doesn't take polluting chemicals out of the exhaust.

It uses platinum as a catalyst to convert carbon monoxide (deadly) to carbon dioxide (harmless). thumbsup

If you really want to empty your cat, feed it lots of fiber and give it spoiled milk. That will really flush out his system. He'll have diarreah for the next few weeks, but thats normal. Eventually that will taper off, and there will be nothing left in him.

No. Carbon monoxide isn't a chemical. All the chemicals including hydrocarbons that come from the engine pass through the cat & leave out the exhaust.

The biggest restriction is the 2.25" piping after the cat, not the cat itself. Upgrading that to 2.5" will make a much larger difference. Gutting the cat will only reduce a slight bit of restriction, which will just be reintroduced as soon as the gasses leave the cat and go into the 2.25" piping (piping is 2.5" before the cat).

TPR is coming out with a bolt on midpipe probably by the end of the year that uses a high flow CARB-approved replacement cat, a high flow resonator, and 2.5" stainless steel piping. Should be good for at least 5whp when used with an axle back that also uses 2.5" piping.

Don't forget you can also hold him up by his tail and squeeze it out of him as well.

Cat is as high flow as you can get already. If you havent done it already go to a exhaust shop and tell them you want a straight pipe welded in place of your resonator.
